Sorry if this has been covered before, a very basic question . I have recently inherited my late fathers Marklin trains and track . I want to use it my self having transported it to my premises but do not know how to get power to the track so I need help in finding how to wire the track from the transformer to the M track so I can power the trains so Can any one help please , later will come questions about points and signals , but one thing at a time

Hi Coling
Thank you to join us in this great forum.
Looking into track pieces, you will probably find some with a brown and red wires. This is a rail feeder.

You may also have a Märklin transformer and - unless very old (prior to 1953) they have 3 outlets
- brown is the common ground
- red is the variable voltage for traction (7 to 13 VAC and 24 VAC overvoltage for direction change
- yellow is the accessory power (16 VAC)
Here is one good way to start with a simple notice on how to connect things
CatMarklin-Signaux_modeles 342 (1961).pdf (15,178kb) downloaded 25 time(s).

Greeting from cloudy Paris
Jean

You will find a lot of the information you need in a PDF you can download from this link. Look for "Maerklin Miniature Railway Handbook" in the list of links.
