Hi Hess
I may be wrong but
- M Track, since 1957 is referenced 51XX (normal track) or 52XX (parallel track)
- reference 36XX (3600 and up) are usually for digital locos (from 1985 and later)

Before 1957 there were 2 other types of tracks
- the 3 rails 3600 (normal radius) and 3700 (wide radius) supplemented by the track type (e.g. 3600 A1/1: full size, curved rail)
- the stud model rails (3900 (wide radius 60 cm) and 3800 (shorter radius 55 cm) with plastic sleepers, slim points but quite expensive.

I cannot find the reference you mention Sorry

On your picture it is difficult to see but it looks like M track (1957 and later) but early models with wide side holes.
The very first models were kaki for 36XX and orange for 37XX. Later all were silber (bare metal). I don't know about black underframe except on 36XX (continuous center rail) but I learn new things every day.

Cheers
Jean

It's a typo, it's not 36010 but 3601 U. 3601 U is the old number for 5120.

In 1956 Marklin made 3600 and 3601 tracks, the 3601 tracks were the first stud tracks that Marklin made, they only made those 3601 tracks in 1956, in 1957 they became M tracks as we know them as 5100 and 5106 tracks etc.

Ian.
