Marklin has the 5114 and 5211 crossing, but no 90° crossing. I wonder why not?

I believe 90° crossings are nowhere near as common in Europe as they are in the US where they seem to dominate in some parts

Hi
I believe in most western Europe, there are no 90° angle crossing but only very small angle ones. So there is probably a cliché this belongs to toy trains thus marking Märklin not to have them.
These crossings IMO are to be seen where different railway networks compete for the same territory (where they need to cross without joining) or where a large number of industry connections (branch lines) exist.

It is also linked to a low speed operation for freight. I may be wrong but there are plenty of those to be seen in North America.
Apparently Wikipedia has found an exception in France (Achères near Paris). This is extracted from https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appareil_de_voie

AchereCrossing.jpg

Our TGV lines (LGVs) in France have only slim switches with a moving frog (no joke) that may be used even above 500 km/h (true during the test in 2007, there were switches).
Cheers
Jean
