Does Marklin make American style freight cars ??? Is the marklin track used with other track ??? I have 3 engines and a marklin 8663 beer car set ( bought too fast ) and 2 boxes of marklin 8503 track. I am a old train nut that's been out of the hobby for awhile that thought making a little z scale would do the trick. When I got out of the hobby their wasn't a lot of choices in z but now its mind blowing !! Like I said I am old cant move around as much so ??? I have no power and don't know what degree curves to buy so if anyone has time I really need some help!! I'm reading that their is a problem with some power packs voltage going too high ???? Any one need a 8663 six car set would even trade for anything just about related to z stuff !! Thanks' DON

Don, Welcome to the forum, I can't help you with your inquiry but there is a dedicated Z-scale section you may like to add your input in future.

Don If you go to 'Community Forums' you'll see a 'Small Scale' forum which is for N and Z. |

Hi Don,
Märklin do produce US outline stuff from time to time in Z, see the 82498 set in the current catalogue, but you are probably better off looking at the US players such as AZL for a better selection of stock.

Hi Don and Welcome, I have recently restarted Z-scale myself and am going for digital. If you are going for analog others will have to advice on controllers/power source or refer to threads in “Small Scale” about this. Anyway, I read that the Z scale motors are designed for 10 V, so I have a device reducing the digital track current to the recommended 11 V (the digital decoder lower voltage to about 10 V to the motor). About curves my answer is as large as you have the space for. I like to play around with track laying programs and there are a lot of them. Just make sure you get one with Z track from the manufacturers you are interested in if you want to go this way. My wifes analog Z from about 13 years back are all Marklin, However I preferred the Rokuhan tracks (I am used to Marklin H0 C-tracks). It is possible to connect those two, but there is a difference in hight. Note that Marklin has “fish hook” couplers and the US use knuckle couplers. I am still hoping that I will get a couple of conversion cars made for me. Cars with Marklin in one end and US in the other. blid |
OneGauge Marklin and MTH, ESU ECoS 2.1 on LGB tracks. MTH 3-rail 0-gauge, DCS on GarGraves tracks. Z: Rokuhan tracks, analog or DCC+TC Gold. |
