Bob, Marklin make a Track Cleaning car that has 2 Removable Felt pads. they work Ok. I have one. revently I got a LUX track cleaner and Vacuum unit. the track cleaner has a Rotating brush. It works magnificently. They are definately worth it. See here: https://www.marklin-user...ault.aspx?g=posts&t=5871Dale Shultz a forum member has made a Calibrated grooved wooded block, hand powered, to clean the tracks. you can see it on his web site. No good if you have long runs in tunnels. Nev |

I agree on the Lux cars. I have them also. I also run the Marklin car and a Centerline wet cleaner. |

Thanks very much for the advice Nev - your former help about the loco volume is a great reference! Could you let me know how much one of these sets costs and what would be the best point of supply. Thanks again. However I would point out that if you have sections of track that you cannot reach by hand, then you will be having bigger problems than trying to keep them clean ! My track cleaner can be seen at http://crud-b-gone.mixmox.com |

So, on what side do you put your felt pad? ;-) |

Wellcome to the forum, Bob.
I don't have a vacuum cleaner car yet. For cleaning the rails I use Dale's wooden block idea with great success. BTW I have no tunnels with inaccessible track.
If I have contact problems on the pukos I use a simple eraser gum to get them clean again.

Both run on the tracks on a non frequent base, as I always have to take away my platforms at the station due to the bit larger than normal size of the cars. But I run a few cars with a little cleaning pad underneath in all trains. I believe they are from Noch, can't remember. They [5 pieces] cost about 4,50 Euro and are very effective. They are connected to the axle of a waggon and don't give any problems. |
