Hi All,

Can someone give me a fair "ebay" price for a late version of an SK 800, apparently in good working order and not to care worn,(no box) hope to buy one on offer.

thanks

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

How late is the SK 800? If you are talking about the one with closed brush covers (SK 800 N), I would say in good condition around $350 - $500 USD. Now if someone wants to quote Koll's prices or some other unrealistic "market" values, feel free.

Paul,

Thanks. Thats the price range I was thinking about. If all goes to plan and I get the loco I will post a photo. at this stage I am not sure what version it is. Kolls prices do not reflect reality IMO.

Sal,

Thanks for the offer but I have now bought my SK 800 but not received it yet...... I will post pictures when it arrives. I have most of the 35* series of coaches which I have acquired over the last 10 years of ebaying. Once you get the collecting bug it is incurable ( and expensive)!

Hi All,

Well I have received my SK 800. What an engine! and in excellent condition and it runs and reverses well. It is massively heavy,no wonder the castings sometimes fail on older versions.I will get round to photos later, but looking through the books it would appear to be version M from 1959. It has traction tires, manual reverser and no wiring on to the tender and no tender accordion.
I assume you have to remove the bogies to get at screws to remove the engine shell. One minor problem is that the front bogies tend to derail over a trailing point in M stud track set against the direction of travel. There is a metal spring that I guess is supposed to hold the bogies down but it seems ineffective. I am a bit hesitant at bending this spring and it would have to be bent a long way which seems wrong, and I wonder if any one else has had that problem and corrected it in a different way. Love

Hi Geoff,

Beautiful engine! Perhaps you are still in the process of fixing the image tags, but for now here is the image:

Ian,

No, no box but the engine is in really excellent condition. Trying to find an original box will set one back a lot of cash!

I have the same problem, and in a 3024 as well: the front bogie feels too light and springy and uses to bump out at some points (switches) on my M track layout. Any idea/suggestion? Many thanks!

I had a pickup shoe that was not correct height (too high) that was causing derailments. Perhaps someone took off the front bogie and did not put it together correctly.
