Hello everyone,

Here is a really nice SK 800..in all original condition. It's really nice because I have been looking for one for a really long time. Unfortunately it looks like I will have to pay the collector's price because it isn't in a lot.

Thanks,

Hi Bill,

I would suggest to ask the seller for additional pictures of the stamped side of the box. In the moment at least the box does not refer to the loco.

Regards

Markus

Thanks Markus,

What do you mean by the "stamped" side of the box?

The label is obviously shown "SK 800", do you mean the side where the factory stamps the print number?

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi Bill,

Marklin had such small round stamps despite of the order-number on one sinde of the box ( size about an EUR Cent). They contain the production date, sometimes also the destination-country, the place in the factory-stock or the person checking the product. These stamps are placed around the SK800 sticker. For a 1945/6 loco the possible combinations are very limited. Due to understandable reasons, I will not publish the codes I know in a public community.

Regards

Markus

Wow I found another one as well!

http://cgi.ebay.de/Wahns...WDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It looks like the same version as the one that I originally posted....but the box is different with the orange and black label with the children faces.

Thanks,
Bill

Well for $200...it would be worth fixing the one part! I also have many SK800 parts already to replace the corroded ones.

Thanks,
Bill

Should be an easy fix...I think the piece is seperate from the frame. It is a cross support mounted with only two screws I believe.

I feel it is a good deal as I don't want to spend a huge amount of money on a nice one.

Plus it is Bruniert which is a good thing.

Also boxed w/ wrapping, but no label.

What do you guys think?

For a complete lok, running, boxed...I think $500-$700 would be a good price.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
"Just needs a fixed truck..."
it looks nice but you will be paying $200 for spare parts. Once the dreaded Zinkpest sets in you are looking at an item that will fall to pieces over time.
I know i have been down this road before (sigh)

bill,

I would agree, the current US prices seem to be between $900 to $1100. I would do a world wide search on ebay and save it under favorites. Things can be cheaper abroad, esepcially on these high value items. Be prepared to wait as the SK 800 comes up pretty regularly.

Hi,

It is not original by Märklin, It is Eight version colours painted by Firma Ritter (Nürtingen).

See pictures on

I wonder why it would be worth so much if it isn't real?

Here is a nice looking SK800...a few dents in the frame of lok and tender. I spotted a little zincpest on the frame...or it is just the blurry photo.

now this does look a nice subject for TLC. Why not ask if there any cracks visable. This does like one worth buying at a reasonable price

FYI-the loco that Geoff mentioned in his 11/12 post is ending in an hour. Bid is up to $4,300 US. Must be some rich dudes in a bidding war.

Actually this isn't really true... The Sk800.4 was produced both in a grau with green-black paint or an "hellblau" with grey painting..
and it's very expensive... Sold for $7170,70 US...

Somebody REALLY wanted that. Since bidder IDs are private in this auction you can't tell a lot, but the timing of the bids suggests the winner was prepared to pay whatever it took. I wonder how high he/she was willing to go...
Is there any independent valuation out there (Koll'sconfused)

Does this version not have any handrails on the shell?? I can't spot any in the picture. All of my SK800 shells have handrails. Maybe they have been painted over? Also on the steps to the back engine cab.

Thanks,
Bill

To answer my own question....

with further research I found that version 9 of the SK 800 doesn't appear to have any handrails. They are painted on.

Thanks,
Bill

The bidding is now up to $409...I think a reasonable price for something like this would be a little over $500..correct?

Thanks,
William
