Hi Marklin friends, As many know I've enjoyed researching the SK 800 locomotive and all its different variations and colors. Recently I came across an image in KOLL's which surprised me: We know very well the SK 800 could be ordered in Green for several years (I laid out my opinion of the versions here). Other more rare colors like red, white/gray, blue, and perhaps even a purple color were likely possible by special order. However, what's interesting about the KOLL's photo is that both top locomotives are dated 1939. As circled in yellow both do not have the 7-th splint which in my estimation was on ALL pre-war locomotives and even in 1945 until the newly produced post-war housings came out. Additionally the couplers look like BK4 which I believe became more common in 1940-41 and I would expect a silver claw coupler (KK) on a 1939 SK 800. On eBay right now there is a nice red SK 800, properly documented as a repaint, that has the 6-splint post-war housing: https://rover.ebay.com/r...f%3Ag%3AztkAAOSwQtJdj29Cand also this suspicious green locomotive https://rover.ebay.com/r...5%3Ag%3AD1kAAOSwatldjKN1 with a shell and parts that all date post-war. The housing has cast-in handrails and yet holes for a brush cover (must have been drilled in later?). Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this topic of the colorful SK's. Later this week I plan to share a video of a red SK 800 pulling a string of blue 352 J coaches for a colorful display! All the best, Paul |

That red one is FANTASTIC! I might have to buy a rough grey one and repaint/restore it in that livery for myself... |

Slightly off topic, but it's a shame that Marklin have never produced a newer, more accurate version of the Br06.
The SK800 is a lovely model for it's time, but I hate that it's got one set of driving wheels missing! |

In the Märklin Magazin you find some instructions to build a BR06 on your own In most cases the results were poor...
