You don't provide much details about the loco which needs new pantograph. There are quite a lot of different models (2 legs, 4 legs, recent old, etc).
Usually German-provided Märklin spares are in transparent bags and North American dealers may repackage then so difficult to check.
What you purchased is an Evemodel 4-legs pantograph and has nothing to do with Märklin. https://www.eve-modeler.com/prod...phs&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Using the model number of your loco, go to maerklin.de, enter the model number, select "downloads" and then "Ersatzteilliste" to get access to the exploded view and parts number
If you don't find what you want go, visit Sommerfeld here https://www.sommerfeldt.de/en/pantographs/ They may be a subcontractor to Märklin

Which model do you need pantographs for?

The Evemodel 81706 is listed on AliExpress but does not appear on the eve-modeler.com website.

It looks like a generic scissors style pantograph, but I don't recognize which model it might be appropriate for. It might be for Chinese or Japanese models or other.

Pantographs for Maerklin loks can be ordered from your dealer. The part number is listed in the instruction booklet and on the website (maerklin.de)
Some models use pantographs made by Sommerfeldt. In many of those cases, you can use the Sommerfeldt version rather than the Maerklin one.

Maerklin ones will normally cost EUR 25 and up each. The Sommerfeldt ones may be a little cheaper.

Sorry for the confusion here. I am not looking for Märklin pantographs. I know what part number to look for.


The problem is, that hastily without a decent look, I ordered what I thought were Märklin pantographs.
So now I am stuck with two pantographs, of which I have no idea IF they have a purpose, IF they can be used on modeltrains AND IF SO: what brand that would eventually be.

The Evemodel pantographs have the hole for the mounting screw. What they do not have is the feet that go between the pantograph and the locomotive shell. That coincidentally, is the broken part on the Maerklin lok of your's
As far as ordering the Maerklin one, the 7218 is the commercial number for the generic pantograph. More recent models may have still used the same model, but had model specific differences, for example, the color of the plastic base is brown on the 7218, but may be green or red depending on which model.

I had previously encountered Evemodels as the manufacturer of generic HO scale containers primarily sold on Ali Express, eBay and other sites.

As I stated, I don't know which models the pantographs are suitable for. The single arm version looks a lot like the standard one for the Traxx type locomotive from Bombardier/Alstom (185). The base looks a lot more plasticky than the Sommerfeldt or Maerklin ones.
The website is setup using Shopify, so there is no actual brand website for eve models. The website mentions 100s of employees, but not much about the company itself.

You could try listing them on eBay to try to get your $15 back. I agree that it would help to be able to mention what model they are designed for.

You could list them as Eve Models Pantographs HP2587 and suggest "Japanese or Chinese" type. If there are people buying them on eBay, they may snap up your's if the price is a little better, so you can start the auction at $1 or $5 and see where it goes from there. If not, you may have to write it off and chalk it up as a learning experience or maybe just use them as a load for a flat car or similar type car.

Beware the generic ones that look OK. They turn out to be more decorative than functional.
