This afternoon, Canada Post delivered a package containing my latest acquisition. I had a few minutes to examine the model. Compared to the Roco model, the pantographs look much more like the real thing. Maerklin compromised on the actual wiper, but I agree that this is probably better than a reproduction of the actual design in terms of actual operation. The mast arm is prototypical and the V shape at the top end of the arm is much better rendered than the U shape of the Roco model.
I had already retrofitted one of my Hag Re 460s with the pantograph from the TGV POS model, but I will likely be going with the new Maerklin design for that lok and my other current Hag model. I may also retrofit my 37462 if the pantograph fits on that model too.
