First of all I love this train. Marklin 39021. I think they call it a DRG 18.3
I have the passenger car sets 42755 and 42760. My only problem is this jewel has the hardest time pulling around the 5 cars from set 42755 I haven't even considered putting the 2 extra cars from set 42760 behind it yet.
The problem is that the 5 car set has 2 cars with sliders for the lights. Lots of drag over the track. Sometimes it slows down over areas where there are numerous switches in a row.
So I am thinking about reworking the wiring to get rid of one of sliders so it can pull a lot easier then I can add the 2 extra cars.
Has anyone modified their cars for this same purpose? I know you could probably get rid of both sliders and power the lights through the trains decoder?
Chime in if anyone has done this or any ideas that could help this Loco out.
Thanks in advance,
Bob R

Not really related to the Orient Express, but still...
I remember Lars Westerlind using a loco function + relay to power wagon lights, eliminating all wagon sliders - can't find the topic right now, though...
I suppose the 2 sliders are feeding the same circuit, so flickering would be more or less eliminated. I have the 4228 Rheingold set (1 slider) and the flickering due to track & coupler contact issues is noticeable.. |

Hello Bob. I also had the same problem. There is no need to rework the wiring, just pull out one of the sliders, of the last car of the passenger car set. The current conducting couplers assure the lights will operate. By the way, this beautiful loco is not a good puller. At low velocities it stops in 24640 crossings. Trumao

Thanks Juhan and Trumao
I will look into it. I agree it is not a good puller. I think 7 cars is overkill for this Beauty.
