I’m contemplating going digital but trying to cut down on some costs. To that end I attempted to use m-track era signals on c-track with digital train control (apologies if I’ve missed worded that). I isolated the stop section and connected the red wires in their appropriate places, ran the blue wires to a circuit track (the one with the toggle switch built in) then ran the yellow wire and added a crown wire that was connected to an old blue transformer. The lights on the signal worked fine, the stop section worked manually but the circuit track wouldn’t change the signal. Is there another way I should have wired this or can I not use the old analog signals?

In complement to Martii's excellent answer (most probable cause) I have two suggestions:
- replace the bulbs MS4 in clear, red or green with LED MS4: they never burn, never heat up and never cause a discoloration on semaphore signals (7039, etc), the current need is way smaller than with regular bulbs. - install the large signal base into a rectangular opening into the layout's plywood with the bottom of the hole closed with thick carboard with small apertures for the wires to come from under the table. Easy to make the rectangular hole using a vibrating tool with a cutting blade

Yes exactly. I have a mobile station connected to the track for control and an old blue transformer to power the signal. Never thought to connect the brown wires together but it makes sense.
