He was selling tickets for the steam ride. He asked where we from and then wanted to know if we had ordered the FS. The model is the test track has to reach 150 continuous running up and down the helix with weighted wagons. 150 is the minimum but they push on to 200/250 hrs. Anyway he thinks they should be shipping in a couple of weeks. Interestingly he wanted to know if we would be interested in other British outline, coaches for example. From that I deduced that coaches are in their minds. He also advised that the moulds will be reused. Adrian

So let's hope they make some coaches also. I have seen one dealer operating with waiting lists for the locomotive.

It is still available for pre-order at AJCKids.
I have never had them accept my pre-order and not produce a model, so you should be able to still buy one from them. |

In the Youtube video it looks really great! The color looks better (and more real from the videos I saw from the real thing) than in the brochures :-) I am also waiting for my local dealer notify me when it arrives.

Hi Alan, I would like to see a video of it doing a scale 85mph, that is what it was built for. You have to imagine the coaches running behind it…… Kimball |

So I held back, and I may now have non-buyer's remorse. I’m glad I didn’t continue with my purchase, because of the lack of coaches. I understand they were testing the market and found they have one thirsty for British HO. So I would not be at all surprised to see the a3 next year with a promise of coaches for the following year. Personally I’d like to see it in LNER lined green. But I bet the us market gets first choice on it. I say I’m glad. Only because I want coaches as well and I’m broke 🤣. What a lovely job they have done. 👍 Dan. |

It seems to be a very nice model, with several nice light functions etc, including lights in the corridor The smoke is also nice and thick. The sound seems to be quite good and an interesting detail is that the locomotive-specific sounds are from Dovetail Games, ref German product pagesHas the green colour been changed slightly compared to the preproduction model and product page? In the videos, it seems to be a slightly lighter shade of green. but it could also be the cameras etc. another video:

Hi all,
In the video it shows the FS weights 493 grams. I think for the size of the locomotive it seems to be ok to give enough traction. What do you think? In the video it is also pulling several coaches, but I don't know what are the gradients of that layout.

I was really trolling, hoping that some lucky new forum owners of this beauty would post some images. Extra points for video. And no Alan, I can never get enough viewing of such a beautiful loco on the move, since I will most likely never actually see one on the rails. Now that they are getting into customer hands I think we will see more quality videos from some favorite youTube channels which usually post good running videos of new Marklin locos. |

Hi all. Thanks for the video. 01:30 - I do find it extremely satisfying to hear an English platform announcement in a Märklin model locomotive. Very racist I am.

Dear All
As Marklin have pointed out, the boiler bands are a seperate fitting and made of brass. This is seen in the prototype Marklin model and initailly wondered why. Seeing the finished product, you can work out that if they had the bands moulded in the diecasting, it would not have been as sharp and a major model feature. This is real attention to detail and I have not seen in any model before, in any brand, stand corrected of course. The FS is one of the most significant Marklin models in years and sales prove it. There must be more FS versions to be expected in the future, as it is a superb product.

I like to support local shops as much as possible, as long as the prices are reasonable. As they provide better warranty(Norwegian law) and simpler repair service etc. the "downside" is that I have to wait for a couple of weeks Ekstra, but that is acceptable.

I've got mine yesterday, taking the cardoard outer sleeve without damaging it was a struggle, way too tight but I like the look of the box a lot. Other than the tightness the loco looks very good. After years of seeing it in 00, seing it for first time in HO is a very strange thing. I too hope for correct coaches, preferably in metal.

You will pay 20% more than buying from Europe. Gaugemaster are sitting with locos and coaches they have had for ages. They give a good service but three rail is just not on their agenda. |

...] Hi Antoine, The Lima HO coaches are a nice find, and fit the Märklin Flying Scotsman well. If you search correctly, Lima may have released the same coaches in British Railways maroon as typical 1960/70s livery. Many still run on preserved railways. After a short while in HO, Lima issued their coaches in OO (1:76) so you have to be careful. HO scale English coaches were also made by Fleischmann (green for Southern Region), Playcraft (maroon) and Rivarossi (LMS red pre-British Railways). A. Thanks for sharing, quite an interesting combination. But even with continental H0 coaches as in the video in post 169, the coaches do not look out of proportion. I'm itching for mine to arrive and see how it looks with OO coaches (see my post way up this thread with another loco and some Hornby coaches).

Looking forward to seeing how it looks with your OO coaches. Do you or others know if A3's was used on the Night ferry train (London Paris) with CIWL coaches? If it did happen, I presume it happened after the railways were nationalised in 1948 ?.
