Hi,

I'm seeking advice on the digital Marklin Turntable. I have received advice from friends that tell me that they have had trouble with the digital memory on the turntable. Their advice is to use it without digital and that it is just as easy to operate and less frustrating.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had experience both digital and non-digital with this item.

Thanks,

Jack

I'm using the turntable in non digital mode, my layout is digital, however, and it works very well.
I found that the command consolle is too much "toy shaped" and you must very careful in using slide and knob.Smile

Jack, Kevin (KLB) has extensive experience if controlling this with the special digital decoder for it... And I think he agrees with what you have heard, but let's hear what Kevin has to say on the matter before making any final decision... Smile

I myself prefer to play with it manually (non-digital mode) but the manual control box is not a marvel of longterm reliability either...[:0]

Thanks Paolo and Juhan,

You have both confirmed another thing I have heard. I'll wait for Kevin and any others with first hand experience before making a decision.

Thanks,

Jack

Hi Jack,all,
I have gone thru two of these things(!) and I'm highly disappointed in their 'performance. For the first few days, they worked as advertised, easy to program. Then one day it refused to to work altogether. At first I thought it was the TT itself, but after I hooked up the conventional controller,I realized it was the decoder.I sent it back for replacement, installed the new one and the same thing happened,Grrr,....[:(!]
So I do not recommend it,...at ALL! Use the conventional controller and have fun playing in your Bw!biggrin

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the advice. You have confirmed what many people have hinted at over the years. I will heed your advice.

Hello Kevin, All

I read your reply and I would like to know how I can control the turntable by a PC, through IB and using Railroad&Co. Is this possible without using the specific digital decoder ?

Best Regards

Costas

Hi Costas,all,
I read on the Railroad&Co. mailing list that some one is making a decoder for turntables and since you can run the IB in 'mixed' mode (MM/DCC) this just might be a solution.

Hi

I have installed my turntable, but I find that its motor seems not to have enough power, as it easily stops when it finds some resistance due to some of the tracks beeing slightly closer to the moving track than others [:(]. I realised that most of the problem was that the C-track has to be slightly inclined down to approach the turntable and that makes the track closer to the moving track. So I lifted up a bit the turntable, so that is more or less horizontal. But some times, the turntable still stops, or at least it slows down very much [:(!].
Any advices? Should I take it to my dealer?

Cheers,

Nuno Smile
