If you are locating a signal (probably Veissman 4017) on the TT platform where do you run the leads to the decoder which is postioned underneath.
Do I need to do some reconstruction or is there an easier way????

I don't think the turntable was ever designed to have signals installed on it.

I would think that running wires would pose a risk of entanglement (unless you can somehow run them down the centre pivot point), so you would have to make modifications to use some kind of copper contacts on every stopping point.

If there is a manufacturer who makes some sort of wireless signal controller out there in MRR land, then that might be a nice elegant solution.

Thanks,

The reason why I asked is that I had read on this forum that someone had done this but i was after more details

I haven't used it myself - but there is a TT-decoder that makes use of these signals (which then off-course must be replaced by functional signals to work properly).

Current version of this item contains several PCB:s of which one is installed in the TT. This PCB communicates through the original cable with an external PCB (the "decoder"), and can control 4 switching signal (and of course the TT-motor and so on). The use of this decoder requires some reconstruction of the TT.

Description and function can be viewed here: TT-decoder (note: page in German). It's a DIY project which anyone can build. If I remember correctly parts complete PCB:s can also be purchased somewhere (haven't researched that now).

Isn't the turntable bridge itself permanently powered? Could one wire directly to the signal from the bridge?

Something I have pondered but not quite at that stage in my layout.

Regards,

Michael.

Bruce, light signals came very late to TT's,most used a Sh0/1 that was on each end of the bridge, which were switched when the lok was allowed on the TT.That is when the bridge was aligned and sometimes locked into position so the lok could(slowly) drive on the TT the opposite was true then the lok was turned.
I have also seen a Ra 11( a wait signal) on TT.

Rant:what always burned me was that FL/M included these non functioning light signals with the TT,I spent many an week wondering how to bring them to life...ho hum Laugh

Blink Pardon?

1) It would an immense cost to a 40 year old design
2) Would everyone want these signals?
3)The M/Fl TT is a rare TT (26M) most likely used for the BR 10

That said, not every TT had light signals or even the Sh0/1 or the Ra11,in a Bw workers gave hand/lamp signals to the driver to move the lok,...
