Hi I know this subject has been talked about lots of times but here goes.I have the centrel station with a mobil station connected to it. I am using c track . On the lower level I am running 2 trains 1 with lights in all 3 of the carriages and both with lights on the front of the trains also on that level are 73 feet of track and 22 turnouts. On the first floor I am running a BR160 with lights and sound on also BR03 with lights/sounds /smoke/etc 64 feet of track 31 turnouts and 2 uncouplers.Today the smoke on the BR03 and the lights on the uncouplers would not work unless I turned lots of fuctions off I have put this down to lack of power am I right wave length. Please could you help me.As I am new to this I do not know the old maerklin digital system.

I've read this on another forum, too.
Are you using an AC transformer?
The CS should have enough power for your trains, but maybe the buffering capacitor is too small.
A booster will definitely help; a new power supply for the CS could help. Adding buffering capacitors might help, too, but I haven't seen the inside of a CS yet so I can't say if there's space for that.
Regards
Tom

Have you changed anything to the wiring? I had a problem with a BR 18 not smoking which was caused by having the + and - (from the programming track to the boosters) wrong (the outputvoltage of the MS/CS is not symmetrical).
Otherwise look for a shortcut. A lack of power does not come out of the blue.

Hi Hemau. No I have not changed anything to the wiring and at the moment I have no booster.

I have similar power issues, perhaps due to layout size 120 feet of C track. Mobile station is running w/ 6001 transformer. I have two spare 6001 transformers and just got a CS for Father's Day and wondering if the following advice from the Ditital Corner "Dummies" article would work. Part Number for Delta controller? Red cable to Digital signal? anyone with more specific advice?

"The second is a smart and cheap thing. The DELTA Control may be used as a booster, if the knob is set to the rightmost position, the DELTA Pilot connections are connected together, the red cable connected to the digital signal of the Central unit. It delivers maximum about 30 VA, and is much cheaper than the standard booster."confused
Thanks,
Rick Hall

The number of trains and coaches with lighting should not be a problem for your CS.
Turnouts which you will use one at a time I presume also will not effect the performance. Lights on the uncouplers again do not take much power...does the uncoupler work not not the light?
What transformer are you using?
My layout runs with more than you are using and I have not as yet had any problems.

David

Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Hi Rick, welcome to the forum!
The part number of the Delta Control is 6604 (old model) and 66045 (newer model). I have two MS on a separate programming track and I use two of those Delta's to power my layout in two sections. This works fine since the Delta's have more and more stable power than the MS (even the 1,9 A version which I have). Some time ago the wiring scheme was even publicised by Marklin Netherlands. See for instance http://home.wanadoo.nl/j...oen.visser/marklin15.htm (I just got this with Google and delta control booster as search items). Text is in Dutch but the picture is clear enough.
But if you just got a CS, using a Delta Control as booster is not a good solution. I don't think the CS and the Delta Control could work on two only electrically separated parts of the layout since there is some delay in the signal from the Delta. And maybe other (severe) problems for the newer electronics if they get connected through a passing loco. You would need a ski-jumper.

And it would be a waste to use the CS only to power a programming track.

Best regards, Henk

Rick,
If you're only using one feed for your 120 feet of C-track maybe you should try more feeding wires (separate wires from the connecting track/box to other parts of the layout). In every rail connection you loose a little bit of power.
