It looks like I might end up buying a CS2 and a booster sometime during this year, so I've done some reading during my days off. I've read that you have to isolate also the ground connections between CS2 and booster (60173) areas. I've also read about how to connect the s88-modules when using CS2 and booster (60173).
Here's my question: when planning how and where to use boosters, is there any other differences between the 60173 and the old 6015/6017?

Torbjörn:
The most important thing is that the new boosters support MFX (2 way communication). If you are getting a CS2 (and need a booster), you wll want the 60173.

Thanks for your reply Mark!
Let me ask a more specific question...
Background: My layout will have a two-track main-line and a smaller station-line. The main-line will end in two underground-stations. The lines, or areas, will not be connected, meaning you can't drive a loco from one to the other. I was planning to use two MS (1,9A) to control the layout. One for each line/area (with perhaps the addition of a "slave"). The signals, turnouts and train-control I planned to run by using a homemade "Gleisbildstellpult" (layout?). This would be analogue.
But seeing the layout- and memory-functions of the CS2, I think a CS2 could be useful also on my (not very big) layout. And since there will be trains on the main-line with smoke-units, sound-modules and waggon-lights, I guess some more "power" can't hurt either. I'm planning to use the CS2 for the main-line and the booster for supplying the station-line.
Question: *Can I still control the station-area through the CS2-layout, although it's only supplied by the booster? *Since there will be fewer trains on the station-line, I want to connect turnouts and signals to the booster. Is this OK, or must they be connected to the CS2.
I think the answer is "yes" on both questions, but I want to be sure before buying anything.

You're correct Torbjörn. The answer is "yes" on both your questions.
