Is there a way to use non Marklin bridges with Marklin track?

I’m in the planning stages of a vintage layout using m-track. I’m thinking of building the layout found in the 1971 catalog that calls for a lot of bridges both straight and curved (5100 and 5200 radius). I have a fair number of the metal bridges but not enough for the whole layout and they’re not in great shape. I’m also not a huge fan of the generic looking Marklin bridges. I’ve found a ton of really nice bridges online but I’m not sure how to use them with any of the Marklin track types.

The item descritions tell if the C track bridges abd ramps can be used for M track. Not sure about Faller, Vollmer, etc.

Hi Jeff
As you know there are things to consider for a bridge
- track bed width: the C track width is 40 mm and M track is 37.5mm
- track radius for curves. R1 is the same for C track and M track (R=360mm) for R2 both tracks have a R2= 437.5mm

If I mention C track, this is because a large assortment of bridges fit for C track exist by Faller
-120471 complete ramp using R2 (5200)
- 2 track viaduct 120466
- 1 track curved bridge R1 120475
- 1 track curved bridge R2 120476
- 1 track straight bridge 188mm 120474 (M Track is 180mm so a small 8 mm track (5208) might be needed

This is just Faller but I am sure you may find more.

Attention
- the M track bed is narrower so you may have to use shims to keep it in place
- straight track length is different (M track is 180 mm while C Track is either 188mm or 172 mm)

I hope this helps
Jean

I agree, they look great, and it’s nice to exclude the standard ballast tracks on bridges. Did you check eBay.com, for e.g Märklin items 7161, 7162, 7163, 7167 or 7168?

Smile
