I would try this bloke in NY, as a start. RJF TrainsYou might need to send an email. In this forum, it can be helpful if you had photos, or could advise the age/type of trains. That way a forum member might have some suggestions or relevant information. Kimball |

I would also strongly recommend my old Märklin Service colleague (not a reflection on his age, but because of the long standing friendship) Scott at Helmut's Hobbies in Warrenton, Virginia ( sales@helmuthobbies.com ) |

I would second Jacques endorsement of Scott. I intend to send him a model or two this year.

Ditto on the above comments.... Scott's repaired and/or upgraded a few locos for me and does top notch work!

Kimball This is the second loco that I have with the same problem, the bulb is on, but the wheels are frozen. These are models 3085 and 8382, very similar they include the problem. I open up the motor and cleaned up the best I could, the motor works, the wheels remain frozen and very interesting if I place the loco in the track them nothing happens not even the light bulb turns on Any suggestion would be appreciated

This certainly sounds like a classic hardened oil in the gear train thing.
Some time Märklin used a type of synthetic oil that turned into glue when not used for a longer while, locking gears and axles. I have myself had to clean such locos. With some locos, some new added oil will loosen up the gears enough but I have also had bad cases where much more work was needed. |
