Greetings

I've been attempting of late to repair some of my Loco's with some success with my CM800, she now runs like a dream. I'm having problems however with my DA800 Class 23, and my F800 Class 01.

The problem with the DA800 has been tracked down to the springs that hold in the contacts having gone soft, and not holding them against the motor and I cant think of a way of fixing this with out replacing the springs, and the whole housing they're mounted on. Dose anybody have any suggestions for this? Also the coiled wire around the reversing unit is broken, I gather this cant be repaired and it needs a whole new coil.

The F800 I have a far more simpler problem, although no less frustrating. I cant find a pickup shoe to fit it, or more specifically, a part number for one. Looks like it needs a pretty big one with the screw hole dead center of the shoe, rather then offset like on the DA800 and CM800.

Also if anybody knows where I can download a full repair manual for all 3 of these older trains, that would be really helpful as well, I'd like to still have them for a long time to come.

Hi John. This "softening" of the brush springs is really rare, are you sure that's the real problem?

In any case, slightly bending the wire which holds the brush in place towards the anchor should work, unless the problem is coming from somewhere else. Can you post a picture?

Regarding your F800, if it's in some way similar to a 3048 (and I guess it should be), your spare part number is 212010.

Best regards.

John,

Accordind to the old service manual, the pickup shoe for your F800 is number 21201. This also fitted the 3026 and 3048. I would be interested to hear if you find a source for them.

I've been flooded by offers of spare parts. thank you all.

By Brush plate armature, I gather you mean the plate that goes over the motor and holds the brushes in place.

John,
As you are into old analogue marklin, the old service manual part number 0733 is a great help, especially as it lists the common spare parts for old locos. i believe it was published in 2003. They do come up on ebay once or twice a year.
You can download it here.

http://www.marklin.com/tech/

however it would be a labour of love as you have to download it a page at a time.
