I'm a newbie and have been using a C-track digital starter set with two turnouts. Both are now digitally controlled with 74491 motors and 74461 decoders using my MS2 and work absolutely fine. I'm developing my track plan from the basic oval and am using the two turnouts as a double track crossover. My question is that instead of assigning each decoder a separate address and switching them independently, can I set the DIP switches to the same address and switch both turnouts simultaneously? I think it should be possible but am concerned that the extra current draw may damage the equipment or be insufficient to efficiently operate the motors. Does anyone have any experience of this? I would be pleased to learn if it's possible.
