Please can any one help me I have 2 questions.
1] I have my turntable in my layout and the small control box that comes with it wired in and the TT is working fine. Were do I pick up the power to make my K tracks live which go to my engine shed. I have looped each track to the next one but I need a feed.

2] I have two pieces C track connected to the TT and when I backed a train on to the TT today the train shot straight across the TT at full speed and crashed the speed stetting to the CS was only on very low and when I tried it again the train stopped on the TT and started to smoke very badly so much so know when I but that train on the track it causes a short. I think the train is dead.

Charles,

What model TT are you using? If you are using a CS then I assume all your locomotives are digitally controlled. You will need power to all your tracks. Without knowing what your electrics look like it is difficult for me to envisage. I would not loop each track to the next but have feeds for each one individually.

You should follow the wiring descriptions that came with TT. If you are using a Marklin TT it should come already with the 3rd rail power to the aligned track. For the new TT I recall that either Marklin Magazine # 3 or 4 from 2007 gives a good description.

Sounds like you fried the motor on the locomotive. If you have a digital locomotive or Delta, try setting the switches all to zero and attempt to see if loco works in analogue mode on a test track section.

Hope this helps a little.

Hi Charles,

For your K-tracks you will need to wire them for connection for digital use, ie, brown ground wire to the rail joint bar and the red wire to the underside of the of track for the centre rail. You can then run the wires back to your Central Station via a distributor strip.

You should use another transformer to supply the power for your TT controller and lighting. Do not use the same transformer that you use for your Central Station. Use a 32 VA controller, the yellow/brown leads for your TT controller power and the red/brown leads can be used for house lighting and lamps.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi All. Can I use an 60a transformer in place of the 32a as suggested by TTRExpress and on page 40 in issue 3/2007 Marklin mag as I have a spare 60a in stock.

Hi Charles,

You can use a 60VA transformer to power your accessories. As long as your power your accessories with one transformer and use the other for your Central Station and locomotives you should be ok.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the note. Glad the turntable and transformer are working out well for you. Did you ever get your locomotive working again?
