I have just purchased the 7286T/T and tested it in conventional mode and it works well. My system is digital so I purchased the 7687 retrofit as well. Also I have just replaced my 6021 with an Intellibox and as I learn about it it also works well albeit early days for me. The question I would much appreciate help with is how to wire up the 7687 using a 60052 transformer. That transformer has two outlets rather than the previous model which has 4. In my system the 60052 feeds a booster which supplies the track current. The Marklin wiring advice seems to say to supply a yellow wire directly from the same transformer supplying that circuit. Does this suggest I would have two wires from the right side of the transformer ie one to the booster and one to the yellow port of the 7687?
Many thanks to anyone who can help.
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

What you suggest with the wiring will work. I would also switch the yellow wire via a k84 contact, as this will enable you to reprogram the decoder without shutting off the rest of the layout, you will need this feature as the TT decoder is very sensitive to short circuits on the layout or using the halt button.

There is some trouble by using decoder 7687...

What i have seen it myself.

I did had one 7687 and the turntable, but that was several some years ago.

Why using 7687...?

When you can control analog anyway and yet connecting digitalpower to the track of the turntable...!

My plan is/was to use my old 6021 and a keybord 6040 to control the turntable - maybe, if you folks don't convince me otherwise biggrin

At the same time, I will use the 6021 to control a 7051 crane converted to digital with a 6080 and a 60960 decoder.

The CS will take care of the rest.

here take a look at this..
http://layout.mixmox.com...igitizing_turntable_7286

Thanks to Dale Schultz for this interesting link. I am looking to make this work on my setup but have a few questions.

I have a spare 4amp 50 volt bridge rectifier. Does anyone know if this will work with the k84 to drive the 7286 TT? I cannot determine the specs for the rectifier in the wimpy Marklin supplied 7286 control unit.

Also, in the wiring description provided by Dale, there is following text:
All the new module needs is one ground, one digital and one power supply to be connected.

I assume that this is the standard red and brown feed (from my IB) to the k84. There is no other "power supply" needed for this circuit, right?

Thanks to anyone that can provide some pointers.

Possible instead...?

Not buying 7687 decoder for turntable...?

Forget about 6021 and 6040...?

Well, marklin has not saying so much or anything at all about 7687 decoder...!

Bruce I answered much of this in my email to you August 29:

Hi Bruce,

> 1). "All the new module needs is one ground, one digital and one
> power supply to be connected". What you mean here is one "red" and
> one "brown" input just below (in your picture) the dip switches,
> right? There is no other "power supply" connection, right?

yes, red is digital, brown is ground and yellow is 16V AC.

the inputs to my 'module' are on the upper right, Brown, red and yellow on the far
right. But you could jsut as easily supply the brown and red directly to the 5213
module since they are connected.

>
> 2). Do you know what type of rectifier is used in the Marklin
> control box? I am trying to find one at a Radio Shack type store in
> the event that I damage the one from the Marklin control box.

no, but any bridge rectifier that can handle 20 volts AC will do. You can also use 4
diodes in place of the rectifier, see
http://www.kpsec.freeuk....ponents/diode.htm#bridge
You can use diodes such as 1N4001

> 3). The yellow line to a "manual override switch" makes sense. But
> for what purpose would be an "optional s88 line" (to "monitor" motor
> activity?)

only if you wanted to know if a loco is on the turntable.

>
> Thanks again for any help that you can provide.

good luck

Dale
