I bought my Märklin turntable (and the digital decoder) about a year ago and now I think it needs some service. There are a lot of problems using it.

The bridge turns very uneven. Sometimes it turns great, other times sluggish and in some cases, the bridge gets stuck between two tracks.

When turning, the bridge works much better turning clockwise than counter-clockwise.

The trains run extremely unstable on the bridge and the connecting tracks, even though I have soldered digital powerwires from my Intellibox directly below the connecting tracks and cleaned them with a Roco Rubber.

In short: My turntable doesn't work.

Do you have any tips and tricks on how to make my turntable work again?
Best regards, Voller.

maybe a new motor from SB will make it run and run smoother?

Did you have it running before and was satisfied with the results?
There seems to be similar posts where the unit was used for a while and then put away and brought out to be used again, only to be dissapointed.

If this is your case then you might need to consider alternate means of controlling your turntable.

Have you removed the bridge to inspect the electrical contacts to make sure that there is no problems there.

I know that the Marklin decoder fo the turntable is not the greatest in my view, sounds like the motor is on its last legs. Have you tried controlling the turntable with the included manual control panel to see how the unit responds?

throw out the digital controller.
I had similar problems until I replaced the digital controller with a k84

How do I remove the bridge from the turntable? I must have misplaced the instructions that came with the device... [:I]

I'll try the original non-digital controller tomorrow and see if it performs better than the digital decoder.

I think I remember something about a link, describing a modification to the digital decoder, which suposedly should make it better/more stable. I believe this link was posted somewhere on this forum, but now I can't find it again.
I never got around to testing this modification, as my turntable (with decoder) still behaves perfectly (after a couple of years).

There is a screw in the centre of the turntable that has to be removed and then underneath the deck is a lever (I think it is on the same end as the cabin) that you move inward a little while lifting the deck up. The lever is for manual indexing.

I looked all over and I havn't been able to find the instructions that came with my turntable. I havn't been able to find the manual online either. Does anybody know where I can download the instructions or could someone please explain how to wire up the turntable?

From the controller there is a black, blue and green wire. These wires should be connected to the circuitboard below the turntable. The plugs on the board are labeled 1, 2 and 3. Which wire goes into which plug?
Best regards, Voller.

So... I bought a SB Modellbau motor for my turntable and threw the Märklin digial decoder in the bin. Yesterday, I tried to replace the old Märklin motor with the new from SB Modellbau. I followed the instructionsheet and wiring diagram that came with the new motor, but I have some problems.

The turntable does not respond to the commands from the analog Märklin turntable push pull that black handle to manually turn on the contact, which makes the motor run. Then the motor works fine.

Any ideas?
Best regards, Voller.

I'm told there is an article about how to mount the SB Modellbau motor in the turntable in the "Dreileiter Magazin", number 4, 2006, on page 66.

Does anyone have this article?
Best regards, Voller.

Problem solved. There was a bad electric connection to the new motor due to poor soldering on my part.
Best regards, Voller.
