Kof has no digital meaning.

Köf is a small loco (Kleinlokomotive in German) that is burning "oil" (ölgefeuert, can be diesel or gasoline) and has hydraulic transmission (Flüssigkeitsgetriebe).

There are different generic classes based on motor power: Kö I is the weakest, Köf II is a bit stronger, Köf III still stronger. The V 60 is sometimes called Köf IV, but that term is not "official".
Regards
Tom

Again, I'm indebted to you Tom. My ignorance is woeful but I'm learning, especially with your patient assistance.

Cheers,
Neil

Not woeful. Keep on asking to keep on learning. Each group has special terms, expressions, acronyms, ...
BR 01, Köf II, Dm3, Mas IV, era V. Ask if there's something you don't understand.
Not everything you see in posts is correct (e.g. "ERA 111", "E 103", "E 120", "BR 01 150"), which makes learning a bit more complicated.
Regards
Tom

DB DR FS NS SNCF c. 1950-65, fan of station architecture esp. from 1920-70.
In single point perspective, where do track lines meet?

I know "BR E 03" and I know "BR 103". After 1968, the leading 1 replaced the E. AFAIK there never was a E 103 (but E 191 and E 320 did exist). E 1xx were DC locos, E 3xx were multi-system locos. The 103/E 03 was no DC loco.
