Hi! I just noticed the # 36810 Kof is out. It is listed as battery powered, but no details are given. How does this work? and you still need a transformer to control it so what is the advantage? I'm sure I am just missing something but I don't know what.

The prototype was battery powered (it's a Ks, not a Köf - the Köf was/is Diesel powered). In 1:87 they both git their power from the track.

Furthermore, it is IMHO the first Köf equipped with a (miniature) mfx-decoder! How that works is still a mystery (for some people). biggrin

mfx version of the Lokpilot Micro.....?

Now there's even a Loksound Micro.... now that's something, since, while this is intended for N scale loks, my lonely Brawa Köf IS going to get one..... unless we'll also have Loksoundmfx Micro!

I wonder where you'd find the neccessary space in a BRAWA Köf for the 13mm or even 16x25mm loudspeaker. Cool

Well, Luis - and where do you then want to find the neccessary space for the 28x10x5mm decoder? (got you!) Cool

Not even with the higher body new Ks you will ikely find the space for both a sound decoder AND loudspeaker - unless you "destroy" the nice open view space in the drivers cabin.

Lutz

Got you againbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin!!! My Köf is Brawa's 0472. It already has a closed cabin, with tiny bits of leather to conceal the Uhlenbrock decoder. Unlike Märklin, Brawa has always used OEM decoders, so, they didn't make Köfs with custom fit decoders, as Märklin does....

Which means.... I will not loose anything, but will gain the originality of a H0 Köf with sound!!!!

(Either way, once I have the parts on hand I'll see what I can do to have a through view. Besides, I have already scratch made interior details and a control panel to this Köf, inside which I managed to conceal the decoder... hence I'll loose this workbiggrin)

Hi Luis,

the issue is NOT whether BRAWA uses OEM Decoders but rather where you can find the neccessary space in this loco to fit both the sound decoder as well as the loudspeaker, regardless of the manufacturer.

IMHO it will be VERY difficult to mount both even in a closed cabin such that the view to the driver is not blocked by some big piece of black plastic. [}:)]

Lutz
