What are the features of this decoder and is it the early Delta Decoder with 4 Mouse Piano Keys?
Thanks, nev |

Nev, the 6080 is the original digital decoder. Big and chunky, with no load regulation. It is designed to be used with the AC motor.
The 6080 comes with 8 switches (mouse piano - I hate that term!), so that you can access all 80 addresses. It will automatically detect analogue operation.
Only F0 is supported by this decoder - normally used for the lights.
The Delta decoder in its original form was much more limited. You could select 16 addresses by soldering pads, and the lights were on when the engine was moving only. In its later incarnations it became more and more similar to a 6080.

THankyou Stephen. Getting a HAG from 1998 fitted with a 6080 decoder by the dealer when originally purchased.

It's the 1985 which counts; still the Motorola standard chip on board :-) A, those were the days. And the decoders were clumsy and bad performers. /Lars

I think it very much depends on the motor they were paired with and indeed the loco. I have a couple of DHG 700s with this decoder which have very poor control, to the extent that they're not all that useful as shunters and will probably get 60760s if Marklin still make that kit. However, I also have a 3774 (transparent Br. 216) which is a fine performer with the same decoder but a different motor. |

First generation - With Zymos controller chip - the "original"... Then the LME03 - Lenz-Märklin-Elektronik - only understands the "old" protocol, also used in 3611/3613/3614 Württemberg C:s ...
Those relics are a long way from the first "high efficiency" drive which was made possible by the 701.13 chip (in original 6090 decoders)... But they do work ok still... |

Got the HAG 25o, runs nicely.
Question: What Voltage does the decoder supply to the interior Lights?? Headlights are Ok but the interior light is almost brown. Going to open up this morning . Looks like the original bulb was not changed for a lower voltage one. nev |
