Hello.

Are there any of you thinking or have bought track just in case the worst happens. I have looked at my layout and I can see were I can extend it if I want to in the future.Smile

Yes. I have also drawn up a list of spares for locos which I plan to order in the next few days.

Actually the opposite. I was going to start buying tracks for my planned new layout. But now with the current uncertainty, I don't do it. Of course I'd like to support Märklin, but only the tracks for that layout is 2 times my normal annual budget for MRR. And I don't want to sit with tracks for half the layout and not be able to get the other half.

I don't want to rely on the second-hand market or solutions from other brands. Peco or hand-laid tracks with loose puko strips can certainly look nice, but it would become a completely different and more time consuming project, with probably lower operation reliability. Not in line with my intentions.

Perz. What would you do if you could not get track from Marklin. Is there anything else other than Peco.

For the planned layout, I don't see any alternatives to K-track. I would probably scratch the plans and go back to a more basic pre-study phase. What that would lead to I can't tell.

I am in that exact situation, and it is bothering me a lot!!!
I still need to buy around 150m of K-track (already 200m installed in my permanent layout). Does anybody have any information about current stock situation?

For alternatives; How goes with the intents to revive the old Röwa track? -I would buy that instead, but need to know NOW; or I will order the 150m of track from Märklin pretty soon ;-)
Best regards

I do feel that somebody would continue with three rail track. The whole system is too important to destroy because of track. It does appear to be profitable and maybe Roco would do a version.
However my bet would be that Marklin track will survive .. so lets be positive.

Wow. Poor Henrik. 150m = 15000cm : 18cm/piece = ~ 830 pieces x €2,50 = ~ €2.100.- [:0]Smile
Perhaps more since I didn't include any turnouts ...

Heh! ;-)
My own calculations runs closer to 1500,-. -But you are right; it is mainly slim switches and flextrack.
flextrack is cheaper; Around 9€ for 90cm... (No, I am not up to date with 2009 prices, so might be slightly off)
Certain items can still be found cheaply second-hand in Denmark, but that is just chance and luck. Not exactly what you would like to base a complicated future layout on...

You're right, advanced layout planning in such dimension is no walk in the park.
On the other hand davemr put it so nicely - let's be positive and we'll succeed ... Smile
