Hi All,

I have recently received a note about the "Marklin Insider Club". This seems to be a great addition, so I am considering to join that club, but would be grat to hear other people what they think.

regards.

Robert.

I have been a member of the Insider Club for the past year. Some comments:

1. The magazine is very nice! I have collected some very useful information and I have enjoyed some of the articles.[^]

2. The Marklin Insider Locomotives are very nice items. I have bought the last one via the club, only to find out that I could have bought it 100 euro cheaper from internet shops worldwide.
[:(!]

3. You also get a nice membership card.[:p]

Overall the actual + of the insider club is the magazine. By the way, I will not renew my subscription for 2004.

Hi Thanos,all,
Will the internet shops actually let you purchase an Insider Lok if you are not a member? Or is eBay our source for these?
Cheers

Well I haven't done it yet, but I know people who did it through an online shop! Also I know a shop that I could have bought the loco without being an insider member. In addition, there's always the eBay option.

I've been an Insider member for 5 years now (received my inclination measurement car this year). I like the magazine, especially the tips on landscaping. I have little experience in that area and want to be informed before I start bulding.

Now the setup has changed: Contribution has gone up, and now you receive the Marklin international magazine as well, and the catalog. I have to determine after one year if it is still enough value for the money, but I think it is.

The insider models are nice (I have the 1999 BR10) but for me it's not the reason to join, since I do not buy loc's very often (I'm out of space already...)

I signed up for year 2 of Insider.. I like the Insider News - simple language and a bit of history.. Insiders in Australia get 10% off all Marklin products (too far from Germany for any of the other perks) - that's worth a fair bit to me at the moment. The insider loks are German (understandable) or US (new market - lots of revenue), but I collect Swiss.. Some of the wagons are interesting and could be used on our Swiss layout that comes with Australian Gum trees..

Robert,

I read a lot of the German magazine's (Miba, Eisenbahn Journal), but one of the key benefits of the MM-magazine is that it is specific targeted at Märklin. In the 4 years that I'm a member I have seen a lot very interesting articles which won't be published in the more general magazine because it's to "Marklinisch". A fine example is the current running line of articles concerning the conversion of various types of locs and wagons with close-couplers. A lot of hands-on information is given (including the right spare part codes!). All-in-all the magazine is worth the money.

I'm a lot less pleased with the current policies around the insider locs. These are far to expensive in mine opinion. I would be pleased to see the introduction of smaller and also cheaper insider locs. The same can be said about the insider year wagons.

Just my 5 cents.

Yes, I have enjoyed the insider cars but have also found the loks just too expensive.

Some stores can offer you an Insider locomotive, simply by using their own membership (if they do not want to keep it themselves). It will never hurt to ask your own shop.

I think bigger benefits are in the magazine, the articles and pictures are really nice.
