Boy, if the wife thought for years that she was a computer widow, she is now in for a real shock [V]

You can do it several different ways. 1. Get a PO box in a nearby town and have things sent to that address. 2, Have them delivered to your house, but follow the delivery on the internet and intercept the package before it gets to your front door. That usually works. 3. Have it sent to a friend, close by, and then pick it up and place it in the garage for a while with other boxes which are empty. 4. Just tell her about it and the day before it arrives bring her a nice bouquet of flowers and take her out to dinner. Sure, that's more expensive, but it's worth a try and sometimes has side benefits. 5. Have a locked separate room for your trains that she hardly ever enters. Keep the key in a safe place. You can say it's just for security purposes. One of those will work and when your collection gets sizable they don't know when new additions arrive, since they don't have much interest in it anyway. Be sure to keep your own bank account for such purchases. Very important. Last but not least: have the right sort of wife who likes your hobbies and likes you. Otherwise, throw her out and get more trains. bob

You buy and sell, and since the prices go up on collector's items you have to keep them for a few years to make a maximum prophit. Buy two starter sets and sell one of them piece by piece on ebay...

We got the Isider Magazine and the annual car, but we were not official members from the mother company. Proper membership since 2003, so I ordered the 5 years anniversary car last month.

Despite being a member I feel that this Insider Club gives the impression that to obtain the top model of the year only those who join are welcome to buy. (I know thay can be bought on ebay) It gives some a feeling of importance when all we are doing is playing with model trains. I would like to see the magazine supplied free for a year to all who buy a start set and available to others at a subscription with models available to all. David

I don't think she really appreciates the cost.[}:)] Anyway, she has treated me to some basic essentials such as a new soldering iron and a magnigifying glass rig to assist me with the conversion. Now, what digital starter set shall I get to satrt the ball rolling? I must have done something right. [}:)] I haven't even bought wine, chocolate or flowers. I really think that she deserves a real treat. How about a trip on the Orient Express, a monthly railcard for Europe, or would I be pushing my luck just a litte bit too far?

I just paid my annual dues about a week ago and the card is good for a year from now, so it is not really a "2008" card. It has an expiration of 24.08.2009. aos: Great news! You need to do something special for her. Post your questions in the "digital" portion of the forum (as suggested by David) and we will see how we can help you. As I said before, I think you should start with something relatively easy like the 3021.

Mine gets a trip to scandahoovia every 2 years. That works for me. This should be #6 on the list above. Send the wife away to visit her family. During that time you can get all the trains you want. Make sure the trip is long enough and that you order sometime before she leaves home. Be sure they arrive before she returns. bob

You can enter your credit card details there, and Brenda will make sure that the forms get passed on to Marklin Germany. That's what I did with our club's membership, and everything was sorted in about 2 weeks, including the charge on the credit card.

With the magazine is an order form for members to buy 1.FC Marklin loco - obviously the 1.FC club didn't take up the offer, so they extended it to the Insider club. Nevertheless, the closing date to have your order in to your dealer is 30th September 2008. Even if I wanted it - it's too late. No consideration for the people on the other side of the world. I decide to take up the previous offer from the Insider club to buy teh Senator and the Expansion car set, however, through no fault of mine, Marklin misplaced my order and now NOTHING.[:(!] I've emailed the Insider club and guess what - NOTHING. I think their ordering system sinks - very unusual for a German company to be disorganised this way [:(!] Luckily, I found aSenator on EBay and bought it, which was 20% cheaper, which makes me think that this is the way to go with these offers. I haven't found the car set yet - still looking. I'm very disappointed with the Insider club, as I feel that it is not very well run - the manager should have a rocket up his [}:)][}:)][}:)]. Does anyone know the name of the manager - I'd like to send them an email

(unless you live in Germany of course) However it does seem to be getting better but remember we have a great outsider club here in the forum which can answer all your questions and you can buy the M magazine on its own and use the rest of the cash to purchase some goodies. I have to wait until my dealer gets his next shipment which won't be for about another 3 months [V].I think they feel guilty as I had proof that their system let them down. Funny thing though - my dealer advised that they tried and nothing could be done. Now, I'm wondering what does a dealer provide . Maybe in Europe it's different - Downunder knowledge & experience is rare. Do you think Marklin will ever have their training classes in English ?

I was under the impression when joining that I would qualify for a Marklin catalog (year book) as well as an Insider Car. So far, I have seen neither of these. Is there a specific time of the year when they are supposed to be delivered and how? Do they come direct from Marklin? I would have thought that both would have been issued prior to Christmas in an attempt to boost sales. The current Club fee seems to be very expensive if all I will receive from the Club is six magazines a year. Please enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I subscribed at the beginning of January 2008 and I received the catalog at my local dealer in December 2008. I am still waiting for the car. You pick up both catalog and annual car as the annual locomotive(s) at your local dealer where you brought the corresponding coupon. I do not know if something changes if you pay the annual fee in the middle of the year (May 2008). Bye Renato

However, did not find it very useful or rather did not make much use of the subscription, in fact did not even collect the member models. Now again with a rekindling of this hobby, subscribed to the Marklin magazine recently. I believe now the insider club membership is automatic with the subscription of the Marklin magazine.

Bye Renato I paid US$89 for it on the US site as I wanted the english Marklin mag. Now I don't know whether it was the Marklin mag only or the membership to Insider club with a subscription to the mag. I will have to wait for the correspondence from them.
