Does anyone have any recommendations for a supplier of wall mounted HO display cases in the USA?

Hello Paul,

My advice is go to a local Wood-working Shop or Cabinet maker because shipping of these Display Cases ( if they are made of Wood and Glass ) is terrible expensive.
We have made our own out of Oak and had the Glass cut localy, it was still cheaper then buying a ready made one (shipping can cost up to $ 100.00). A Kibri Display Case in HO is about $400.00

One very nice solution is Train-Safe. These have been available in the US, but I don't know if there is still a distributor. Go to www.TRAIN-SAFE.de.

Train Safe is an acrylic system that can be set up to accomodate any reasonable train length. The nice thing is it is very dust proof, and can be plugged in electrically so that you can light your trains while on the "shelf". Then, you can take the tubes with the trains in them and plug them into your layout and drive on. Kind of like an off site staging yard. It's a very elegant system.


I have one whose length is exactly that of the longest siding that is on my layout, so in effect it's simple to take whole trains on and off the layout without even touching them. There is a special track attachment that does this.

I have to thank Sam for giving me this lead for my own cases: try www.customdisplaycases.com (in PA) I have 3 of their 5 foot cases and one six footer. A few quick reasons I would buy from them again: (email me off site if you have more questions)
1: They are reasonably priced and lightweight = very cheap shipping
2: You can see the trains from all angles
3: Easy to mount:
4: Phenominal Quality. The shelves don't sag with weight and construction is beautiful.
4: They are 8 shelves in 2 vertical feet, which would only be about 6 with wood, so you can fit a lot more trains in the same space!

If you sift through my posts, I have a thread somewhereof pix I took when I got them.

If you prefer wood, get an itty bitty lines case from Walthers or IBL direct. These cases are well built and I believe you can even get them through Marklin USA. They only offer like 2 sizes though.

IKEA ? Depending on the required size of your display case ...

I have two glass cabinets from IKEA to display my scale models of helicopters and airplanes. One of them is "Bonde" and the other is "Kriss" which is much smaller and intended to store CD's but is no longer available in Canada (I don't know elsewhere).

Paul I have purchased from Fullview Display Co. in Hightstown NJ www.fvdisplays.com. very good product, and fast service. Also good phone communication I have four of his largest wall displays.

Don't make them, go to Ikea. My dealer has a lot of those in his shop, and they look superb. And they're very cheap too.

Having had mine for over a year now, they are like the day they were new.. I can confirm that my experience with them has also been 100%..

Era I-V / HO & 1 Gauge / C-Track & Mobil Station, with Central Station.
