I have a turntable 7186 new about 15 years ago. I am finally getting my layout completed. My loc will operate on the turntable, but I cannot get the turntable to move to different tracks. It seems to be "frozen". I have oiled the bearings with Marklin oil as instructed but this did not help. Does anyone have any suggestions or do I need to send it to a repair shop. Thanks. Lorene

Lorene: Does the motor try to run? If you hear a hum, try rotating the armature shaft somewhat to give it a little help. If there is no apparent power to it, turn the turntable over. There should be a series of contacts riding on contact rings on the moving surface. Make sure the rings and the contacts are clean...be sure not to stress the contacts.

yes, the motor runs. . I don't know what the armature shaft is but I have tried very gently to help move it one way or the other. I will try to turn it over and view the contacts. They are all clean and are connected (no loose wires). should I remove the c ring and try to lift up the "bridge"? (I really don't have a clue of what I am doing.)

Lorene: I have a transfer table and had the same problem. Check under
the table if there is a safety shipping screw. That was my problem.

Rainer, I looked and found nothing. I also removed the c spring and nothing. It still will not move.

As I read your post you didn't use the turntable recently? Maybe you haven't even used it for some years? (15 or so... wink )

In that case it could be that the mechanism itself is stuck due to the fact that the oil has been drying out. This turntable has a rather strange mechanism, sort of transmission. You can easily check whether the oil is the problem by opening the housing (2 screws, one on the bridge, one on the side of the housing) and checking what happens when the motor runs. There's an axle with a kind of spring on it and a gear wheel on the end of it. The bearing on the end of this axle often gets stuck. If that happens, the motor is still be able to run but the bridge will be jammed. If so, clean it, oil it, a very little bit and everything should be working fine again. Good luck!

you are correct. . . turntable not used for 15 years. I took off c spring, evaluated the underside and it looked clean. I put it back together and opened the housing and the motor does not run, it only hums. The bridge does not move and I have tried gently moving it by hand with no success. thanks. Lorene

When you said the motor runs but the TT down't turn, it sounds like the gears are not ingagned. If the TT was jammed and the gears were engaged, the motor would stall. There is a little ever on the side of the motor house. Make sure it moves freely back and forth (it is for reversing the TT manually).
