Being new to the Marklin fraturnity, not sure what would be best for multiple feeder wires. Plan to have three ovals (R3, R4, R5) under Delta control with a max of four locomotives. Want to run to two 72090 distribution strips and from there to the track. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Depending on the length of the oval one wire to each oval would be fine.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Which wire set would be best? 74040, 74042, or 74046? Thanks

Don't use the 74046 - it is for analogue operation only.
You can solder wires to the C track, you can use the 74995 spade connectors, use the 74042 as intended by Märklin along with one 74040 or go your own way.
Regards
Tom
