Hi Community, just picked up a used Märklin set. I have only experience with the old analog systems and wonder what to do with this. The DC plug is kinda fiddly, but got it to work a the Mobile Station Powered up. Track terminals are connected. None of the buttons on the Mobile Station seem to have any response. What should I do?

When powered up, the MS always starts in the STOP mode. Nothing will respond until you press the red illuminated "Stop" button. All the other buttons and the large red speed control knob should then work. Edited by user 23 October 2021 23:57:50(UTC)

Do you have an mfx loco to put on the track? If so then do so and let it register. You may need to clear out the loco list first if the locos present are not yours.

You have a short circuit somewhere. Check the Trackbox connections and make sure the connectors are joined correctly. |

You need a digital locomotive to work with the Mobile Station 2, preferably a later generation one with mfx that will register itself with the MS2 (as Alan pointed out). As Martti suggests, it seems you have a track short somewhere which is why the MS2 won't come out of Stop mode. You need to fix that first. I suggest you download the MS2 manual which should get you started using the MS2 https://static.maerklin....20fbe5c2c31619688976.pdf

Thanks all for the advice. Cleaned the MS2 connector with electrical spray and a piece of wire and also the plug. Unplugged the track box and tightened the connectors and connected everything back without the loco. Was then able to get the MS2 to respond and enabled the factory default settings. Loco back on the track and now configured. Everything works :) have a great Sunday!
