Still no information about Trix CST2 yet...

I´m now wondering if there shall been DCC in Marklins CST2 instead anyway.

I have to wait until Marklin show CST2 in Switzerland at the end of september or later in some german cities.

Just read the product information which is now on Maerklin.de about the 60213 CS II. Thought I saw something peculiar:
Belastbarkeit am Anschlussgleis: max. 2,4 A
and indeed checking my CS(I), it has a max output of 2,8 A.

Would this be because the CS II is eating so much power itself?

You'll need the booster (now that it lookes like really coming) all the sooner.

Yes Henk,I've seen that information too.

I've asked that question too some time ago and didn't get an answer! Does this have any relation to EU regulations on maximum power consumption of consumer/toy products???
Comes in handy for Märklinwink.They can sell a lot of boosters because of this rule!

i believe all M* products comply with EU-rules for toys. That's why they had this trafo exchange program as well.

The nominal digital voltage is not 16V but 20V – thus the 48VA (Voltampere). Note this is not necessarily equivalent to the Watts (W) delivered as other factors are involved with AC current.

Hi Chris! Nominal 20 V OK. But here are some readings from the screen of my CS (1) in operation:
startup 19.5 V, 650 mA output (some lighted coaches, switches)
put lights on in ICE 3: 17.6 V, 1575 mA
drive ICE with lights on 16.7 V, 1670 mA
drive ICE and GT 2 x 4/4 (delta) 16.2 V, 2300 mA when the ICE is climbing the hill. And that's only 2 trains running![:0]
So the more A you use, the less V you get. Not surprising. Or would they have achieved the CS 2 to keep the 20 V stable when under power consumption?

A Voltage drop when the load increases is as you say yourself what one might expect – unless the power supply is stabilized. But the Voltage drop you have measured is beyond what I can measure under similar load conditions on my CS – what transformer are you using?

Transformer is 60052 230 V 60 VA. It's connected with the cables that came with the CS. The trafo is not connected to anything else. Maybe thicker cables would help a little.
Back to the topic: we came to this argument because I think the CS (1) under full load does 16 V and 3 A (2,8 on the track and 0,2 on the programtrack, if used), not 20 V and 2,4 A.
If the CS II would have a stabilised power supply and keep the 20 V also under full power, it would be nice (operation is better at 20 V than at 16 V) and then it would need only 2,4 A. Otherwise it will not get beyond some 38 VA (2,4*16)to track instead of the 45 VA (2,8*16) of the CS (1). Let's wait for more information.

Problem Juhan is we can get a lot of good stuff for that type of cash. As you say a laptop with some top software which is way beyond a model railway controller.
Where we fall down is that we like Marklin and model rail which means I for one will be buying the new CS. You can buy a DVD player for the cost of a few plastic coaches. The toy business has very high profit margins for manufacturers and retailers due to low turnover but at the end of the day we pay because it is our hobby and in my view the best indoor hobby that there is.
I expect Santa will be bringing me my new CS2 the difficult bit is hiding the credit card statement.

King Flash, you should move to NZ. Here, the NZD has strengthend against the USD, after falling for some time. Most likely we would get slugged 12.5% GST (VAT) on something over $400 coming into the country, but this is not always the case. So, assuming USD30 postage, the CS2 would cost around NZD1020 plus a possible 12.5% making a total of around $1150. The CS1 retailed here for anything between $1100 to $1400.

I guess if you can afford it and you want to buy a new controller, the CS2 seems the only option.

I am still wavering between waiting for the CS2 and getting an ECoS for my Grandson. Still waiting (now for the CS2 to get some field experience)

I´ve been thinking about moving to a CS, but...

1 - Not at that price (better 2 locs, or a new PC Quad 9300)
2 - Not with an undefined future for MSystems (will it be on use in the next 5 years, or will it be obsolete by the means of a fe. new protocol?)
3 - Do I really need it? Of course it´s two steps ahead the CU (not to point here the advantages), but it´s still incomplete (boosters), and I can manage all my stuff with the reliable 6021.

After all, I can still live with my 6021.

PS. The actual CS is still quite expensive, not having a colour screen, or a wireless connection to the track...

Well I did something I thought I never would do. Only a few days ago I sent Bigdaddynz an email saying I would wait a long while before I bought the new CS.
In the mean time, I got an insider offer for the new 39013 01 loco for $679.
I thought, Euromodeltrains has a pre order for the CS2 for $669.

It's ordered (CS2) - I guess I will be one of the people to suffer through debugging this time. I will certainly keep one of my 6021s for backup. I am excited about the new one where as the first one did not get me moving.
We will see.

As for the CS2, well I'm gonna let the dust settle. I have a CS1 which I think is a very good controller.

I may look at a CS2 later when some of the additional components have been delivered - 60173 booster, the 60212 connect box, etc.
