Got my ESU mobile control today. They have replaced the previous series of controllers (for different languages) with one multi lingual unit. Talk about plug and play...I plugged the base station into the side of my IB (will also plug into the right side of the 6021), put 3 AAA's in the controller and BAM! I was driving a lok immediately. No setup required (it happens to default on address 3 which is one of my active loks). Adding loks is simple (it came with two manuals, one in German and one in English) You can choose a symbol (similar to the MS) from one of six (I believe), give the lok a name that appears on the screen and even change the readout to km/hr instead of steps. Really neat. My only complaint is that the thumb wheel reacts a little fast. I'm going to take the book to work tomorrow to see if there is a way to desensitize it. Really glad I bought it; been thinking about it for about a year now. Also - NO WIRES! I can go anywhere in my train room and run the trains or operate switches or other devices.

Congrats Ron, that's a great way to run trains.. I can't tell you how many time's I've been on the wrong side of the room when I wanted to his the "STOP" button.

I for one, hope that one of the delays of the CS is due to the fact that they are adding a mini remote to go with it. I mean for God's sake, how much tech does that require in today's world of $10 flat line remotes for my Bose Wave radio??

My Mobile Control arrived about a month ago and I have to echo Ron's comments (I have actually been meaning to write up a mini review to post for some time now. ) - it is a fantastic product and has me wondering if I really need the central station I have on order. I am enjoying running my layout wirelessly so much that I can't imagine being tied down to a stationary controller anymore. Of course it doesn't have MFX and only has a single controller wheel but it does store up to 100 locos in its database (10 in a quick access recently used list) vs. the mobile station's 10 total. Unlike the mobile station it also allows you to control switches and other function decoders. In fact the only thing that is slightly dissapointing about it is (and I am being really picky here) is the case quality - the silver paint or coating on the case looks like it might rub off fairly quickly and the ESU logo and "mobile control' name around the LCD look like they were almost hand painted on.

The one base station will work with up to four hand held controls. Interesting. I might buy another controller.
