A question for the legal experts: when do you make a purchase? With most German dealers, the contract is closed when they send the item.
Therefore I think date of arrival would be a practical criterion for this thread (especially since we want to see pictures). |

A question for legal experts: What happens when you purchase an item on ebay at 23.59 31.12.2011 but the seller doesn't confirm it until 2 hours later ? Do you show half of the loco in 2011 and the other half in 2012 and should it be the front or back of the loco ? and how does it work, what is bought in the northern hemisphere and what is bougth in the southern hemisphere. What loco did you purchase in 2012 sounds odd when the year just started, well almost. these are vital questions and without proper answers can we live with ourselves in 2012. I've made one thing clear I'm not going to spend another dollar on locos this year however 2012 can become an interesting year for me personally, not knowing what I'm going to buy, taking stock of my investment dollars over the last 30 years and I think I know the outcome or the answer, stick to the hobby and don't worry about a few hundered thousand dollars or is it one dollar less ?. Yesterday - 31-12-2011 - I purchased the M37927 - BR 41 356 MHI (next to the Epoche 1 set of Rm Rugenwagen from Fleischmann, 520953), but will have it for my camera just in some days... (2012). Anyway, more pictures of new and recent locomotives were also taken at my dealers shop. You will find them in my Picturebook. Kind regards Frits Osterthun Edited by user 15 August 2012 22:10:21(UTC)

Well my loco has arrived in 2012 but was purchased in 2011. Photos will come.. and here it is an ÖBB Rh 1020 024-4, (33221) bought from Sal. It is the first Rh 1020 I've had in my possession but I hope it will not be the last one. It is difficult to decide which brand should I buy as Roco and Märklin have 2 different motor gears, so it has to be either 1 each or 2 of the same manufacturer to be able to run them as tandem locos. the loco will be converted in due course and will receive a Loksound decoder and all the other parts, e.g. leds and I'jj may fiddle around with electrically operated Pantographs but first I would have to purchase the little motors. There is another conversion set out there, I think it is made in Switzerland, anyhow it will be an other loco joining the list of my ÖBB collection. There are 3 ÖBB locos hauling a timber train, Rh 1020, Rh 1010, Rh 1041 John Edited by user 04 January 2012 11:17:44(UTC)

So... Yesterday i received the VT 54 "Jägermeister" 39986 (because in a Marklin layout you must have a V200, a red Railbus and a Banana car, now i've all of them )and the long-awaited 26577, "branch line train"... I was pretty upset by the Loco, is still the cheap plastic-made V36 that has difficoulties hauling its own shadow but... Its ok. Today i'm waiting for the 34989, DSB Litra T (298), Danish Railway 150th anniversary. I'm also waiting for a Litra MO from Heljan, they'll deliver it next week i think. As soon as possible i'll post some photos.

I have this set on it's way to me as well. As long as it can pull the train it comes with that's fine by me! It is, after all, only a shunter. |

Hi John,
The Rh1020 you got there looks very nice indeed, it appears to more prototypical correct than my 3159, especially with respect to two window windshield, rather than the three windows on the 3159. Congratulation once again with the nice find. |

Happy New Year All, and congratulations on your purchases. Marklin as well as you, should be pleased with all these purchases just from our relativley small group ! Here's my first arrivals for 2012 collected from the post box this morning ; 37927 BR41.356 (let me be the first one to post a photo) and note the smoke unit and Insider Lok 37040 BR5040.50004. I'm impressed with the sounds, both new and different, and so far, the running sounds and whistles unique to these Loks. Well done that Marklin, without a prototype to record, did a seemingly good impression of the steaming sounds of the Franco Crosti, which must be different to all the others EDit; Actually the 50.40 has the usual old BR50 whistle, but at least long and short. The BR41.356 is a new sound, but no short one Two new photos, one of each Lok added Edited by user 06 January 2012 15:52:57(UTC)

At the time the 3159 was produced Maerklin did not follow specific details of a loco. John In addition to what John wrote; all ÖBB 1020 originally had the German three front window design. They were later rebuilt as part of major overhauls of the loks (Hauptausbesserung) and one thing which has been changed is the front windows, another the ventilation grids and one which is more difficult to spot the arrangement of sanding containers as well as one easy to recognize, the lamp arrangements adding separate red tail lights. Furthermore, as John hints, it is very possible that some of these changes are slightly differing between the individual loks. Finally, I like these ÖBB loks a lot and I believe I have all versions released by Märklin except 3052, which now and then pops up on ebay.de at prices above € 1,000.- which is more than I feel like paying. I also have a 3022 model repainted "Blutorange" and marked as ÖBB 1020.23 by Spielwaren Hilpert in Vienna.

Hi Glen, I believe a couple of these locos made it into the first year or so of DRG ownership, and were used on works trains. I might invoke modellers licence and run it with a couple of 6 wheel DRG compartment coaches. As to your second question, I will do nothing to this loco other than run it and admire its looks! |

Hi ray, Very good Ray , the details, and there are lots of them, are possibly more apparent on the Black & Red than the Green ones, (I aquired Sauerlach two years ago). I looked up this Lok on the M Products site and then the 2000 en Catalogue, pge 53, a good story about it there. A whole page to itself with what looks like possibly a three axle DRG coach behind |

A whole page to itself with what looks like possibly a three axle DRG coach behind Thanks, I'd forgotten about this page! RayF attached the following image(s): |

Can't wait to get my hands onto this project. John Ditto that, a beautiful and sharpe looking 53, they didn't call the colour "photo grey" for nothing. "Can't wait to get my hands onto this project." not so sure about that, it might come back with a tender on the front as well, looking like a Garrett |
