So I’ve upgraded my F7 from analog to digital and using Marklin’s decoder programmer I’ve added the appropriate running sounds and whistle sounds for the F7. My problem is, now all of the other pre-loaded sounds are not working, most importantly the break squealing sounds. Is this normal when programming new sounds or did I mess something up?

Jeff Hi Note that when you are using mDecoderTool and sending a decoder project to the decoder, all previous sounds and settings on the decoder are overwritten. (when sound and settings are selected for transfer). And e.g. a good start with an old F7 might be the 39622 F7 decoder project. and you can add and map the extra sounds you want. It's also recommended to check/select the correct type of motor and perform the auto calibration. ref the manual. This video might help in understanding the brake squeal settings:

In addition to the above, the brake squeal is dependent on the rate of deceleration and the speed before decelerating. So you might check to see if the deceleration rate needs to be higher.

Yers, and the brakesqueal/threshold also changes when you change the CV for the braking threshold in the CS 3 edit Loco decoder menu.
