Eg. Marklin has one cube speaker inside the locomotive and Broadway Limited has two round speakers at the bottom. And Marklin has 4 powered axels and Broadway Limited has 6 powered axels, but looking at the drawing I can't see any traction tires on the drawing from Broadway Limited Import

So that's welcome. As for the smoke, I don't think is possible to reduce the amount of smoke, so perhaps turn it off while running...? or simply take it as a prototypical simulation of bad injectors or something like that.... e.g. like in this video:(not the prototype but just an example) The prototype has a very powerful sound, e.g. like this ES44AC, from Canadian Pacific:

My wife looks over at me and smiles because she knows I love it. And "Whoa" with the smoke! I have never seen that much smoke from such a unit. Triple header looks very impressive. As for the model, I may go to the Big E show in Springfield Mass this year, so I will be looking out for any large diesel-electrics with "major smoke" and see what they do with it. Curious if there will be continued improvements on smoke realism in general so my wife can stop laughing at me when I run our steamloks with the tiny puffs. I do find that models with smoke from the pistons can look quite nice. As for me, I have mostly only continental European epIII stuff. Hi Please note that the 38201 and 39027 are quite different, eg they don't even share the same traction tire part number. the 38201 prototype is a rebuilt 61 002 with some parts from the H45 024. And the 39027 prototype is a rebuilt Baden Iv h/br 18 314. But they were both rebuilt by VES-M Halle........ The models seem to reflect the difference in the prototypes: (note the picture of the 38201 is probably a pre production model) Matched the track sleepers in the pictures above, so the scale should not be too far off.

I don't know for sure but Marklin sometimes uses preproduction models in the first pictures and when I zoomed in on the locomotive some details looked a bit coarse.

It looks like it will be larger than 1:87, so that the C track counts as narrow gauge, which most Shays would be, so probably nearer O scale.

Good point about the gauge Alan, since Shays were normally narrow gauge. It makes you wonder how one of these would fit into an HO layout. We already have a Flying Scotsman. What is next? A Beyer-Garratt?

I was also thinking exactly the same thing for a while already. I assumed it would be a surprise model, but maybe it will be in the 2024 new items? While the 'Commodore' is very nice, I would like a 'Dreyfuss Hudson' better.

(although most were narrow gauge) 2- I have both the broadway limited dreyfuss and their commodore vanderbilt, trust me when I say we would love both in AC for marklin! LOVELY brass and die cast models....
