Found the review of Trix 25441 but in German.
See smoke in action at 3.55

.....
Very beautiful locomotive and really interesting sound profile.
I do however have questions about the "smoke" which is supposed to be diesel exhaust; it seems to be just as much as you see on an active steam locomotive. I wonder if there might be a way of making the smoke stream more subtle, as in a smaller bit of exhaust.

In single point perspective, where do track lines meet?

From any point of view are excellent!!!!
Metal construction, dynamic smoke, excellent sounds. Marvelous.
The price is correct for these beautiful locos.
I am waiting for the Märklin version to get mine.
May be is a good start for collection.
Already Kansas announced. Is very nice, I had see a preproduction model is Toy fair in Nurnberg in January.
Is very nice model too

Those locomotives are a bit tempting, but I'm still on the fence about it. Perhaps if it gets good reviews and i can find some at a good discount :)
I did have a look at the Marklin exploded drawings and compared them to the exploded drawing from Broadway Limited Imports, and there are some similarities but also some differences.
Eg. Marklin has one cube speaker inside the locomotive and Broadway Limited has two round speakers at the bottom.
And Marklin has 4 powered axels and Broadway Limited has 6 powered axels, but looking at the drawing I can't see any traction tires on the drawing from Broadway Limited Import

I believe the Marklin ones are out as well. Marklin had a pair running on their long term test track pulling a veeeery long rake of the hopper wagons.

the decoder project does indeed seem to be quite good, and listening to the decoder project(Trix 25440) on pc with mdecodertool it seems like Marklin has included some deeper tones, compared to what they have done previously on other recent projects. So that's welcome.
As for the smoke, I don't think is possible to reduce the amount of smoke, so perhaps turn it off while running...? or simply take it as a prototypical simulation of bad injectors or something like that....
e.g. like in this video:(not the prototype but just an example)
The prototype has a very powerful sound, e.g. like this ES44AC, from Canadian Pacific:

We get CP locos like this running only a couple of klicks from our house and we hear some of these sounds when sitting on our upper balcony at night. My wife looks over at me and smiles because she knows I love it.
And "Whoa" with the smoke! I have never seen that much smoke from such a unit.
Triple header looks very impressive.
As for the model, I may go to the Big E show in Springfield Mass this year, so I will be looking out for any large diesel-electrics with "major smoke" and see what they do with it. Curious if there will be continued improvements on smoke realism in general so my wife can stop laughing at me when I run our steamloks with the tiny puffs.
I do find that models with smoke from the pistons can look quite nice.
As for me, I have mostly only continental European epIII stuff.

That was indeed a pleasant surprise, I did not expect that since Roco has made several versions of it.
It is a bit expensive, but I do see that
modellbahn-kramm
has a 92,51 € preorder discount on it.......

I really like the model and the changes that are made from 39027. The price is very high though and I have slot of other models that are higher up on my list.
I'll pass but only because of the price point. The price increase from 39027 is 1/3.

Hi
Please note that the
38201
and
39027
are quite different, eg they don't even share the same traction tire part number.
the 38201 prototype is a rebuilt
61 002
with some parts from the H45 024. And the 39027 prototype is a rebuilt
Baden Iv h
/br 18 314. But they were both rebuilt by VES-M Halle........
The models seem to reflect the difference in the prototypes: (note the picture of the 38201 is probably a pre production model)
Matched the track sleepers in the pictures above, so the scale should not be too far off.

Thanks for sharing. Great picture to see the difference between almost
the same locs.
Yes, 18201 is longer than 18314 up to 2m.
How did you know 18201 is a preproduction model?

Has anyone in North America received the Marklin 38440 Union Pacific Type GE ES44AC Diesel Locomotive from a Marklin dealer yet. It is supposed to be released/delivered in October 2023. Thanks so much.

I don't know for sure but Marklin sometimes uses preproduction models in the first pictures and when I zoomed in on the locomotive some details looked a bit coarse.

Hi
I'm using "Adblocker Ultimate" plugin (free) in Firefox and it kills a lot of adverts including on YouTube. and it's easy to turn off on sites that require that. The
The Ublock plugin also works quite well.
Another alternative is to use the
Brave browser.
or somthing similar

Welcome to Leipzig Hobby Spiel.
And look at what was on Märklin stand: a Shay lok.
It’s a project and MäTrix has issued a poll to ask visitors if they would be interested in the full development of this model.
You can have a look in this video at 1m35.

I bet it goes ahead ...
It looks like it will be larger than 1:87, so that the C track counts as narrow gauge, which most Shays would be, so probably nearer O scale.

Interesting. I never imagined that I would see a Shay from Marklin.
Good point about the gauge Alan, since Shays were normally narrow gauge. It makes you wonder how one of these would fit into an HO layout.
We already have a Flying Scotsman. What is next? A Beyer-Garratt?
Regards,
Jim
I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

This seems to be a standard gauge one.
If the scale remains 1:87 I'm interested!!!

I would not be surprised if Märklin plans to cooperate with Broadway Limited Imports and release a Märklin H0 version of their recent
Commodore Vanderbilt Hudson
.
Märklin has earlier released a "Commodore Vanderbilt" in "O" and "Z"(
88075
).
The Märklin AK 70-12920 from 1936:

I was also thinking exactly the same thing for a while already. I assumed it would be a surprise model, but maybe it will be in the 2024 new items?
While the 'Commodore' is very nice, I would like a 'Dreyfuss Hudson' better.

A new set of 48030 series wagons, two wagons for which you get five Euro cents change from Euro 150 ...
This series of wagons used to be Euro 30-40 as individual wagons, and this pair are pretty plain, no fancy graphics, so I don't know if the price is being pushed for a limited series (500 units) or if this is reflecting price increases we are going to see in the New Items announcements.
Must have been very popular- just tried the link only to be advised item no longer available!

Two notes:
1- Many real-life shays were indeed gauged for standard gauge, so that isn't strange or not prototypical. (although most were narrow gauge)
2- I have both the broadway limited dreyfuss and their commodore vanderbilt, trust me when I say we would love both in AC for marklin! LOVELY brass and die cast models....

The Commodore will be well received if Märklin produces it, assuming it is not more expensive than the FS.
The Shay is not my taste.
