Well, I can guess it's a measure stick but I've seen it so many hundreds of times on Ebay auctions I'm just getting a bit curious where it comes from. Everyone uses this, never anything else, must be a standard of some sort. Who makes it?

It's a ruler. I don't know where they come from. As far as the frequency of their appearance on eBay, it used to be one seller who had this in his photos.
It may be that there are more of them out there or it may be that other sellers have been using the photos for their own models. It seems to be that it is easier to scan the web for model photos than to take your own.

It is made by Piko ref number 5/6445/062

You can see box said Piko brand in the image.

A 20cm long ruler that has the graphic/shape of a train, for publicity. Nothing magical. Now if it had H0 scale on it as well, that would be interesting.

It looks like a Dosto cab forward of a Regio train after meeting a tank at a railroad crossing. And the tank won.LOL LOL LOL
