Hi Stephen,
About the insurance - my train collection is specifically mentioned in my household policy, by a nominated value.
It is therefore important for me to have records of the collection, and some proof of purchase. I keep these records in a fire-proof safe. My house is made of timber. Fire is my biggest worry when it comes to loss.
We had a burglary once. My wife's sentimental jewellery was taken (grandfather's gold watch, coins etc). They (he, she?) opened the train cupboard, and left it all there.
regards
Kimball

Good suggestion Kimball, about the safe. I, too, live in a very old wooden house, and fire isa worry to me.
Sorry about the burglary. Just as well the burglar was dumb!
Of course, while you can replace trains, you cant ever replace your wife's grandfather's gold watch [:(!]
Cheers,
Damon

Congratulations, Steven.
I think the 1990 Märklin Magazin car has no. 4892, the 1992 Museum car has no. 4870.
4870 was delivered in two versions; with flat brakerman's cabin roof and with "step" roof.
Mine has a flat roof.

, believe it or not this set was standing idle at my dealer's shop for 4-5 years.
My three Krokodils demand a large fleet of Swiss wagons

I hope that M will produce more wagons that carry lumber.
I must find a way to get these wagons from the new mega Swiss set.

Same as mine, Steven, the flat roof.
The step roof has a rectangular "frame" just inside the edge of the roof, like the tank cars from the sets 2857, 4786 and 4674.

Yes, I have the same experience here in Australia. At Nathan's Trains (local M dealer), I can often get stuff from catalogue 2002 or similar. And I particularly like the freight sets. My recent acquisition, is Trix freight set 23858. I can replace some of the wheels for AC Marklin.

Good, Kimball!
I will make individual photos of each of the cars, but probably not until next weekend. The sunset is rather early here at this time of year. And I cannot do it today, as I have to finish a new floor in our entrance hall today. Othewise my dear wife will go b......
