Maybe not Ira, we all have our favourites, but, as mentioned in another topic:

Don't like - don't buy.
It's a difference, though, if you get a present from someone Smile

I have somewhere around 300 or 400 total, I had a complete inventory that took me a year to do, cars, locos, track, accessories everything Marklin and a few that aren't. Then a tragedy...my laptop plunged to the floor taking my work with it! The laptop was a complete loss. I still have the hard drive, but retieving data from it has not been successful to date.

What a terrible mishap! There are companies, however, that have specialized in retrieving data from "dead" hard drives, but it costs.
My collection comprises of "only" 14 Märklin and 20 Fleischmann. The 20 F* will join the layout as soon as I get my 1st of three F* DC locs converted to AC. The couplers are not changed (for now anyway), so the M*'s and F*'s cannot be mixed.

Benny - Outsider and MFDWPL

No problem, Thomas - look for your nearest RADIOSHACK store at www.radioshack.com Smile
The guys there are just helpful and will gladly transfer your data to an external hard drive (~$150)
Then you easily can transfer them to your new computer and use the EHD as a steady backup [^]

Increase with one!

I picked up my 48706 Kryptonite car today, ordered in September last year. Better late than never!
Now I just have to install a small decoder in it, to switch the light on and off. I have some old 6080 decoders in stock. Perfect for that kind of use.

Well done,Svein.

Do you have any photo?

Here is a photo. I tried to make it so the glowing Kryptonite shows. Long exposure time, a small flash when the shutter closes.

UserPostedImage

The gargo is illuminated by 10 green LEDs. As they are connected directly to the pick-up shoe and the rails, the LEDs flickers syncronised with the digital pulses. It gives a very nice effect, as if the Kryptonite cargo is alive.

Tonight my wife was in the "cleaning modus".

I tested if the green glowing Kryptonite would slow her down a bit, but it had no effect on her! It did not reduce her power.

But, I was actually very lucky. I was not home from work untill after eight o'clock biggrin
And tomorrow I go to Brussels for a couple of days.
Next week I have holiday. I hope the "cleaning modus" has ended by then Cool

Nice green glow, John!

<br />I think the paper was meant for the Märklin Magazine printshop.

Congratulations, Steven!

I should count my cars, but whats the point since the list is always growing - I just need to make sure I don't duplicate any special editions. Other ones like hopper cars and box car, its OK to have duplicates.

One type of car I have not seen listed on ebay much, or for sale on different dealer sites, are the special imprint SBB HBils (or something like that) covered wagons. These are nice looking cars, but just don;t seem to be as numerous these days as they once were.

Just got the 4579 (all Metal US Box Car set (2 Cars))

The dealer had a Complete Alaskan Box Car set but a bit too much for my depleted wallet
