Stephen: Gator, Croc, Cocodrillo, Krokodil - lots of different names for the very same beast ... [:p]
But here come another two - quite rare - beauties:
#32000 - The
Platinum
Gator from year 2000. Model # = € price tag ...
#3352.2 - The
Red Cross
Gator from year 1988

Steven: That €32.000.- [:0][:0][:0] Millennium Croco is well known ...
But the €1.500.- "Henry Dunant" Edition I, too, saw the very first time today.
Basically a #3352 she ought to be the most expensive plastic-shell Croco

Thanks guys - the 39560 and 39561 are just great. Why Marklin cannot just make every loco powered by a C-Sinus, I just don't know?
All my 39xxx are some of the best runners I have.

hello ,
"they " use to call it " the french gator " :
http://www.rail.lu/materiel/sncf14000.html
Specially that one :
http://www.rail.lu/materiel/sncf12000.html
The BB 12000 is actually on the Marklin catalogue .
A model of CC 14000 has been made by LIMA .
Yes , I know , I know......
......they are not very much " Gator" , not so " gator " than the others....
...must be the reason why the french more commonly use to call the BB12000 : " the Iron"....

Francisco: I tried - but space [:I] for typing in more models is full, sorry ...
But never mind. Since this is our very personal little world each of us should be free to evaluate
by himself what
he
wants to be (for example) a Gator, o.k. ?
So please post what
you
like ...
Thanks for adding the French Gator [:p], Roland !

Hi all,
Here in spain we also had an own version of this "crocodiles" or "gators". It was designed for the Compañía de Caminos de Hierro del Norte (North Railways Company) around 1928, and they were numbered as series 7200 and 7300 (later RENFE 272 and 273). I think they're bigger than the typical Ce 6/8, with a wheel arrangement of type 2CC2. They have a design that reminds me of the Swiss Ae 8/14. You can see several photos on this webpage:
http://www.railfaneurope.net/pi...istoric/272-273/pix.html
Later on there was a more powerful version, numbered 275:
http://www.railfaneurope.net/pi...ic/historic/275/pix.html
Just to let you all "gator-lovers" to know
Kind regards.

oh , thanks Julio , these Spanish 2CC2 look like pure "gators "!I didn't know these machines.....No model of it from electrotren or Ibertren ?
Stevetrain : about the twelve wheels named as "CC 14000" , there is an old model from LIMA . A new model from Lemaco is coming soon . Hope Marklin will do it one day.... there is no announcement about it ....
All these french " Gators " were working in the North and East of France , also in Luxembourg ....MRR fans may drive it on a Belgian or Luxemburg layout.....Probably ( I'm not sure )also at some German stations somewhere on the Border between Belgium / Luxemburg / France and Germany , to be exchanged with another locomotive ....Or anywhere they like , in an imaginary world full of "gators" & nice Loks..
These machines were running untill 1999 in France ( 40 years in service ) . Some of them were still running in 2003 under CFL livery ( Luxemburg Railways Company - red / brown and yellow )

Seriously, don't like that color combination. Enzian blue plus yellow plus red isn't exactly my preferred hue
- looks quite kitsch to me.
And congratulations, Steven - you've got 3000, now

I found a link to some more croc pages....mainly narrow gauge
<http://www.ozdoba.net/rhb/croco_e.html>
It seems that the definition of croc is vague, which is wonderful since it allows for so much silly discussion, silly in a fun way.
Does it have to be Swiss, does it have to be articulated, does it have to have the wedge shape. All good fun. The link has pictures of some locomotives, even has a non-articulated "croc" with a croc painted on it.

Diesel Gator ?
Yes, I know one, too: the so called "Hochwald-Krokodil" (high-forest gator) consisting of two R30C diesels (330 hp each, 30 kmh max speed) which are coupled semi permanently and can be controled from one cab. Belonged to a private railroad company. Only one pair existed!
I saw these diesels passing almost every day in the late 60s and 70s, hauling 600 tons freight trains over a steep and curvy side line in the south-west german low mountain range.

Received Gator No. umpty-nine, today. E1020 <u>big</u> C-Sinus #39222 ... [:p]
She's one beautiful runner. And her perfectly weathered silver roof
compliments her rich, emerald green body just nicely.
All this is only McLae's fault, again [:o)] (who had started it all, many moons ago).
Thanks, Gatormaster
John

Sorry, that's no gator to me. It has at least to be articulated. In this way, every coupled locomotive could be a gator.
A Bi-Polar is more gator to me than a GG1.
Absolutly AFB-NOHAB fan ;-)

I'll do, Steven
... Well, reading the papers it seems the days of the old owners and their
"management" are counted. Game over [xx(]
Thus let's relax and see what the new gang will present to us. If there'll be great models - fine.
If not - there are still tons of top quality Gators & Crocs (from almost half a century) outa there,
waiting to be taken home ... [:p]

Nikos, they wait for us. You can find them at nice old European M dealers - brick & mortar only
F.e. found this beautiful E1020 (from year 2000) last week. Brand new in the box ...

Well here in Greece(in that part of Europe) you cannot find such things to that scale.
Maybe in central Europe you will be able to find that amount of krokodils.
