Here’s some 3D printed aids I made to mock up a C track layout. They help me to set out the main track, run some trains, visualise the scenery and how it all might look and operate. Like the pictures here - start with a really bad idea and see what can be done ...

Someone might find the piers and bridges useful?

The piers are stepped at the heights given in the old M track plan books for a 5% gradient but can be spread further apart for a gentler gradient. They are available in TinkerCAD so customising them should be very easy for a 3D modeller. Just search for C Track. They are only temporary items not meant to play any part in the final layout so they can printed rough and fast.

Creality Ender 3V3, PLA+, 0.28mm layers, 70 first layer then 60/200. TinkerCAD isn’t good at HO sized track curves so I develop items in TinkerCAD then bend them in Blender (it is the only thing I know how to do in Blender and I get by with a cheat sheet built up from LOTS of trial and error).

24188 bent 30 degrees makes 24130 and bent 22.4 degrees makes 24224. 24229 bent 30 degrees makes 24230. The double piers can be used occasionally to keep double track spacing correct.

The Ender 3V3 has a 220mm x 220mm build plate so the longer items were printed diagonally. The 250mm bridge doesn’t match anything Marklin size wise but is the longest I could print – it can span double C track at a little over a 45 degree angle. It would be easy to make a “joiner” bridge pier and connect multiple bridges together.

Piers are stuck to bridges with superglue – I’ve never had a problem with “name brand” superglue but the stuff from reject shops and discount stores is really unreliable.
