Excuse me that is not for railroad but I think you can help me.I friend of mine gave mt this set,but without the transformer.Tested all the cars with 9v battery and they are all fine,at least the motors are working and spin the wheels.I have and the two plastic lines-one have two cables with jacks, the other line have two sets of cables with two sets of jacks. So I have several questions:
-can I made my own transformer (power supply) and what voltages it must be AC or DC and what options I have.I read somewhere that they use DC.I think if I tested the cars with 9v DC battery,it's logical to be DC the main one.
-how to hook after that the wires/jacks.

I'm good in electronics (repair pinball machines/arcade games/personal computers/monitors) so If you give me some clue how to make it I think I can do it

I have some PICO rails and trains(N) and some Carrera analog and digital sets, but this that I have now are new to me.They looks interesting and small.

Hi (a first name maybe?)
A warm welcome to this forum of train fans
Here a French enthusisast of Märklin and Faller. Long time ago, I use to have a Faller AMS car system but not anymore.
What I see are elements of the Faller AMS (HO-size slot cars) and sold in the years 1965-1975.

Can I made my own transformer (power supply) and what voltages it must be AC or DC and what options
The cars were definitly DC
Faller Transfos were 16 VAC (16 VA I think) like the 4016 (in the 1976 catalogue
Attention you must have a rectifier between the transformer and the car (Faller 3808 in the 1970 catalogue or early (1965-1968) large controls with a rectifier to select the wave side and controls for lane switches
There were special sliders with a rectifier (4893) allowing to control independently 2 cars on the same track
In absence of these rectifier-sliders, a simple diode 1N4007 or equivalent allows to do the same trick.
By swapping the magnets it was possible to make a car use the upper or lower portion of the sine wave and still go forwards

-how to hook after that the wires/jacks.
Underneath the tracks, it is possible to solder a wire for connection in absence of the double track feeder referenced 4702

Track cleaning
These tracks may oxydize easily and the cleaning trick was to use a small metal rectangle to gently swipe all oxydation

Here is my layout with the newer version of the Faller Car System

Cheers
Jean

All work well with 12v/4A DC power adapter(regular use each car on separate tracks).
Can 12v/2A will be enough too?
Also next questions-any recommend site for spare parts?
I have these cars that had drifting effect when try to run and of course they don't run.Only spin the back wheels on place.
I don't know even the models/types of the cars/chassis.

Hi
From what I see on your video, tires and sliders need replacing (Tire gum is hardened, sliders have grooves)
By serach "Faller AMS ersatzteile" I found this
https://slotcar-online-s...e/faller-ams-repro-teile
Probably you may find more as there are many Faller AMS enthusiasts in Germany
Cheers
Jean
