Jonas, You mentioned version 2.5.2 in your post. I assume that was a typo?

I cant seem to get the downgrade to 2.4.1 or the upgrade to 2.5.2 to work via the USB stick. Has anyone else experienced this?
I disconnected the LAN connection and plugged USB into one of the white USB ports, then held left red button + stop until the screen changed. Version still remains as 2.5.1. The same thing happens with 2.5.2 update. The CS3+ does not recognized the upgrade to start the normal procedure.
I'm putting the file in root on the USB and only have the 1 for each attempt. Using ex-FAT format for the USB.
Any ideas?

Märklin is in the final testing stage of a new update, so if it passes it will be officially released fairly quickly.

Yes we know what Märklin mean with quickly Maybe it would be better if they called it 2.5. 3 instead otherwise it will be very confusing with existing spread BETA version Edited by user 09 February 2024 07:07:57(UTC)

Damn weird that they send out the information by "Märklin Dealer News 04-2024" Is it now the dealer who presses the update button at home Perhaps the dealers can fix the broken links on their home page too since er two months So for god sake get a real BLOG/FORUM or minimum communicate through Facebook (with only slimy advertising ads) like everyone else |

When Marklin releases it, the red dot will show up on the CS3 system menu. Why stress it? We can still run traffic.

I din't mean they do run like mine. Even if you use another automation software package, and are having issues, with other manufatuurers decoders, etc., you can at least still run trains using only basic CS3 functions.

Any ideas? This sounds like a repeat of my own experience, turned out my CS3+ didn't recognise the USB drive I was using. I changed the USB drive and it worked first time. I suspect that the CS3+ may be fussy about the types or possibly the capacity of USB drives used, I only mention the capacity aspect as I swapped from a 6GB drive that didn't work to a 1GB one that did!

Any ideas? Don't use ex-FAT, use FAT32. If the stick is to large a capacity to use FAT32 then that is another part of your problem. Don't use a stick bigger than 32GB. I would also suggest to use the menu to select loading from the stick.

Thank you! I was using a 64GB USB with exFAT and it was not being recognized. I found an old 4GB stick and reformatted it to FAT32 and put the 2.5.2 file onto it and the CS3 recognized it on restart and I was able to successfully update to the beta version. I really appreciate the help on this one as its been driving me nuts for a few weeks not being able to run via PC control. Now the feedbacks are working again.

The Maerklin guy in my local, Danish, forum says that the update will be rolled out for all CS3s over the coming days.

Does Marklin monitor this forum, or would anyone know the best way to report this to Marklin? Thanks! Norbert |

Norbert, I get that message, but only when I am in edit mode. I haven't tried to edit a loco twice.

Yea, it was really making me nuts so I rolled back the update. I was wondering if there is a formal way to let Marklin know, although I would image they know already. Good luck! |

Good luck! I updated to v2.5.2 and the Loksound 5 issue is resolved. You need to delete the lok from CS3 and re-register. After that, everything is fine and you can edit the Loksound 5 decoders on CS3.

Thanks Q.
Believe me, I tried this multiple times and ended up with the same result. I'm going to wait a bit for the next release. |

Hi I am a bit off topic, sorry. I loaded the last CS3 version v 2.5.2(6) and it went well for my Märklin MFX locos but not so well for a Märklin loco fitted with the LokSound 5 micro decoder.
What happened: - the firmware into the ESU decoder was modified by Märklin CS3 in a way that no physical fonction I use is operational anymore. - the rest is working fine: Motor, sound etc.
What I tried - at first I thought that NO Märklin wouldn't be stupid enough to modify the firmware of someone else's decoder (That they know poorly) so I tested the loco in analogue: I have sound but no lights so Märklin did modify without my consent my property and damaged it. I am outraged- of course I did many reset of the decoder using MFX and also DCC. In MFX, the loco was removed from the list and re-appeared as all MFX locos do. But no cure to my problem - next, being a tenacious and a nasty person, also Engineer in electronics I immersed myself into the delicacies of CVs in ESU decoders (I have no ESU Lokprogrammer) and, gosh, it is a real gas factory (that's what we say in France when a product is overly complicated (warning, understatement here). - I read the CVs in the decoder (using the CS3 in DCC mode), I red the CVs in the initial ESU project (thanks to the ESU LokProgrammer s/w) and the physical fonctions and I cannot locate where Märklin did some changes - so it is still a work in progress (17 CVs per line for each fonction-key/ sound-logical-random fonctions among 72 lines or so and this is only a small part of the CV salad.
I must say Thanks Märklin for being so inconsiderate to your customers (by destroying their own property) and thanks to ESU to create such "gas factory" and totally user UNfriendly systems. Cheers Jean |

Hi, I've just bought a second-hand CS3 60226 (as new)... it was in version 1.4! Well, after a quick backup, I updated it to 2.5.2 using a USB key. All is working fine... Jean-Claude
