A bit lost what this is all about now. However I will never drive a steamer with a mobile phone which is used only for calls etc. The new product looks OK but could be too pricey to be worth buying.

Anyway not only dinner Dave but I am not late for lunch as well...and it is almost time now.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Yeah - happens to me sometimes with a stray finger touch - or at least that is what I assume and I hate it. I can see how it could be a reaction to ultra sensitive gyros. It is definitely not much fun and occasionally quite disastrous in a yard or other tight situation. Overall though I feel that I have very good speed control with their interfaces on my tablet, which I think is a much better platform than a phone. I have a nice phone but I virtually never us it as a mobile controller but I use my tablet app a lot. Soon any wifi connected browser will be able to host a fully featured interface to the CS3 via their web interface, which is getting better on a regular basis. ThumpUp

I know - it does it now, but it is still not quite there yet from what I can tell. At their current update timeline though it will meet or surpass the interface on the CS3 before too long, and the CS3 will be the computer hosting the main layout processing of all digital functions and controlled by various web interfaces, including its own. That is an excellent concept that makes their system more versatile and easier to use for a lot of different users and I think that everyone benefits. ThumpUp
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
I have models from Era I to Era VI, but I try to focus on Eras I & III. Whoops, that one got away from me. Let's just say I focus on cool trains, regardless of the particulars :-)
So many trains and so little time.

Siblings, but not twins - Massoth Navigator & LGB RC3 Controller:

Delivery of the new hand-held radio controller has been delayed to 4Q3019. The original equipment maker Massoth is selling a controller that looks identical from the outside and is both readily available and a little bit cheaper. Therefore, I was tempted to cut out the middle man. Now research revealed that the two controllers are „same, same, but different“ (see below link for more details). As I am not totally convinced of the compatibility, I will be patient and wait for the Märklin/LGB product release.

https://www.spur-g-blog....h-navigator-und-lgb-rc3/

(German article, thus Google Translate needs to be called to the rescue.)

Good idea. Because the difference will be the compatibility with the CAN-Bus from Märklin.

Whereas the Massoth radio receiver 8131001 is compatible with the DiMAX-Bus from Massoth or PIKO-Gartenbahn. For PIKO-H0 are different solutions availbale.

For Maerklin you must use the RC3 radio receiver from Maerklin or LGB (both art #55057), which are compatible with the Maerklin CAN-Bus.
CS 3 is a controlling station from Märklin - not a central station.

The bad news from the article is that they are replacing the 433Mhz frequency with the 2.4Ghz.. In a world already saturated with mobile phones and cheap home Wi-Fi the chances of interference (and consequentially less range) is very high.. Perhaps they assume that anyone with a garden railway lives on acreage.. RollEyes

I have scheduled a time buffer to be on the safe side in case of further delays. Still, I hope that the delivery takes place in the second millennium.

Part of the world uses the ',' (comma) as the thousands seperator, the other part uses the '.' (dot) as the thousands seperator (and in both cases use the other one as the radix point ). Its something one has to be familiar with in an international environment.

Just like some nations have names for the various thousand increment sequences of numbers being:
thousands->millions->milliards->billions->trillions

and other countries dropped the milliards (which is a thousand million) and use
thousands->millions->billions->trillions

Which results in the word "billion" meaning one of two different amounts, depending on who is using it in which context. Its either 1,000,000,000 or 1,000,000,000,000.

Some counties designate date as day-month-year ( 1/2/2020 is 1st of February), while others use month-day-year ( 1/2/2020 is 2nd of January).

Toys of tin and wood rule!

Never heard the term 'milliards' before, it was always 'thosand million' when I was a lad ...

And there are others that use year-month-day which works nicest when computer sorting dates ...

Also with such a long time before release they should have the bugs out of the system by then.

There also are billiards and trilliards.

A billiard is 10^15 in Germany while it is a quadrillion in other regions.

Interesting topic this. Will the new hand held controller be OK for me as I am left handed...will they make two versions. Also I am the right way up but those down under might need a version made upside down. If my old pal Nev would join in this thread the party would be complete as his contribution would include dark suckers.

Yes, I would need an upside down right handed version, which when right side up would be a left handed version.

The handheld controller should work fine providing it isn't made for Marklin by Lord Lucas, the Prince of Darkness. Then we will need dark suckers to suck the dark out of the controller so that it will work again.

Perfekt timing to release a controller for garden model railroads in December. At least here in Scandinavia it will take a few months before anyone can use it outdoors...

When would you have issued the new controllers? In May? Then the Australians and Kiwis can have the same concern as you got. On the other hand are the Scandinavians very, very experienced with snow clearance. Why not with am MRR garden railroad too? Some ideas presented at You Tube

Seeing this videos I get a new feeling for playing with a garden MRR in snow.Love Why do you want to wait a few months? No need for it. Do snow clearance.BigGrin

BTW these snow fountains are looking quite funny to me.ThumpUp

Actually, our model railroad habits align.. In December, when it is too cold for you to play outside, it is too hot for us (30-40C) so we are inside our air-conditioned train rooms.. In winter, when it is usually a nice 25C in the daytime, we are outside with our Gauge 1 railways..
