I like the Br42 in grey, but the 12 car set suggested is a bit too long and too expensive. I like the flat cars with the military vehicles, though at 65€ each a decent length train will be costly too! Lets not mention the price of that gorgeous steam crane! I might get one of the modern electrics, either the Skoda or the TRAXX AC3. Whatever I go for will be reduced from previous years, as I am now retired and my disposable income substantially reduced.

I hope later in the year this feature appears in a Challenger... The one I most like is the BR01 39005 and I will probably buy it. Second one is the S2/6, but as I already have the Brawa in a similar livery I don't know if I will go for it. Others I like are the Ae6/6, RE620 and the Skoda. The crane seems superb and the price assures I will feel ok just seeing youtube videos of it or maybe see it in a shop...

Like the livery of the S2/6 - but I'm not that impressed with the pulling power of my blue one. There are obviously a number more models of this to come considering the gap in numbers between the currently issued ones and this one. I'll get the 44818 Jim Knopf & Lukas Lava Wagon to go with my Superman Kryptonite wagon. They really seem to have gone coca cola mad, as there is also the 44216 refrigerator wagon ... Like the wagons in the 26614 '800 Years of Rostock' set, but don't know that I can justify getting the whole set with loco. Two more sets of loaded coal wagons (46028 for Germany, 46055 for Denmark) and a couple of individual coal wagons (46053 & 46054 for the Netherlands). With all these one could have a mighty long coal train when including the Insider ones from a couple of years back. I do wonder what is special about the 'quiet running trucks' on the 46539 tank car ... Might have to get the 43650 Gotthard panorama car Set to go with the car issued last year ... Will have to browse the DE version and get prices

The question is, as these cars are often run in company owned unit trains (e.g. Rotterdam to Italy, Antwerp to Italy or Hamburg to Italy), which of these cars are suitable to be run with each other. I guess that the DB and DB Railion can go with my NS Railion cars (47051.001-004), 47053 and 47054? What about my Railrelease NL (47051.005-008) cars, my Cemat cars (47095) or my NS cars (47084). I can run the Hupac one with the cars from the 47081 set from 2012. Where would the Locon or BoxXpress cars fit in? I think that I would prefer if they sold the cars and the containers separately. That way, I could match containers to cars and build my own consist. Maybe the Sgns in sets of 2 and the Sggrss alone? Regards Mike C

The 47068 is interesting. I wonder if I can put containers on such a car? The 36635 SRT 487 has a nice livery that stands out anywhere. I will have to find a suitable consist for this one The 43650 Gotthard Panorama Set sounds interesting. I will probably pick this one up, so expect to see at least one of last year's special item up for grabs. The 43411 ABt pilot coach has been long awaited. Most of my push-pull consists already have pilot coaches though. The 47097 Hupac Sgns will be welcome here. I am not sure how to match the 47802 Sggrss 80 because that one is registered to Locon Germany. I don't know which operator would use this car in/through Switzerland. The 47800 and 47801 Railion and DB ones are more suitable for a Swiss transit train. I can match these with The 36353 PTT Shunter is an interesting model. I guess that this can be used with older post cars and not the latest yellow Wascosa 4 axle ones. and now for the rest: I ordered the BLS Re 475 from Roco, so I don't know whether the Maerklin version is for me. The same goes for the Re 620 X-Rail. I would really have liked to see Maerklin finally offer an adapted EWIV A as AS Service Car with baggage compartment. This would be a minor cosmetic change that would not require much more than a paint job and would appeal to anybody who bought the 42152, 42159, 42164 or 42169 models. I am still waiting for the orange version of the WRm (43874), which would go with the 43340 and the FS Eurofima coaches. The FS offerings are really small this year. It would have been nice to see either some UIC-X or Eurofima variations, either grey or rosso fegato for UIC-X or bigrigio or XMPR for the Eurofimas. Given the fact that many of these models won't actually see the light of the day for almost another year, it would have been nice to see Maerklin be one of the first to offer the LokRoll SBB Cargo 193 or to have been the first to offer the RailCare 476 or ELL SBB Cargo 193 with 4 pantographs instead of being 3rd with the BLS 475, but that is just my opinion. Märklin actually seems to have photographed two old vintage locos, a 3045.1 and a 3047.4 (whose running axle had 9 spikes) for the 2018 news catalogue. I can read the old road number 44 690 on more than one photo, and in the small picture that is supposed to highlight the dummy tender light of the DSB loco, there's the old road number of the 3045, i.e. 205. One photo of the replica 3047 shows a loco with a Relex coupler, but that might be a 3108. Some road numbers seem to have been photoshopped. I guess I'll wait until the new replicas are released to see what they really look like. Best regards, Mark

The X rail alliance unites CFL Cargo, Lineas (SNCB Logistics), SBB Cargo, DB Schenker, Green Cargo (SE), Rail Cargo (AT/HU) and maybe CD Cargo also (not mentioned on website)? Regards Mike C

This enables me to backfill consists missing cars: for example my old 42165 car set will now get baggage, dining, and 3rd class additions. Same goes for the new IR SBB coaches I have via 42166. - a "halbschue" switcher not sold in a double pack (which is always annoying to me when I don't need 2 locos) - Seetal croc: if markling can confirm/promise this one will not disintegrate on me like the last 3 (!) did, I'll buy it. Although after the others I feel like they should give me a free one - a handful of ncie freight cars The negative: - my goodness the coca cola train is hideous. I can live without prototypical no problem, that is just plain ugly though. (although I do love the "pop art" beer car in the my world section and will buy one) - the double pack of retro steamers. As mentioned above I hate double packs, although I understand marklins need to make them. It also I think pushed me towards selling my original 3045... -as usual, no good italian anything. Although I do like the coil cars and will pick up a set.

Joined: 15/10/2006(UTC) Posts: 2,319 Location: Washington, Pacific Northwest		From the 2018 new items, now that I've gotten the PDF up and not the iOS app with its tiny non-zoomable images, I've found a few things I like (but thankfully no locos - too many purchases in 2017, so its good to see them rotate through other eras and interest than me... for budget reasons alone :) ) The 48695 heavy pipeline transport cars look like a great freight enhancement. The 48746 (Marder) 48794 (Fuchs) and 48797 (LKW 10t GL) look like great for adding to military trains that have Leopard 2 tanks in them already.

Design is in Calais, manufacturing and packaging in France and China. Stil a good following in France, UK, NZ, AUS, SA and some other. I belong to the Club des Amis du Meccano France with over 800 active members

Vectron in DB and Hectorrail and The 102 Skoda. So this year is a budget friendly year regarding Märklin model trains. best regards LG

If the 30470 BR44 were available by itself then I would definitely purchase it. I just don't know what I would do with the DSB version. Sorry, not to disparage our Danish friends but I just don't run non DB trains. Who knows, perhaps someone from Denmark may wish to split a set with me The new line of signals interest me. Though I need to read more and fully understand what they are and how they work. All and all, it looks most of this year's railroad funds will be spent on layout infrastructure ... which is not a bad thing.

Well, Hornby has been having to reorganise several times over the last few years, ever since the disastrous Olympic models they produced didn't sell.
