That is an interesting choice of model.
It aligns with Marklin's stated intention of producing museum examples.
I believe the one remaining BR65 is running in Holland.

There is one remaining DB BR 65, the one in the Netherlands, but there are three remaining DR BR 65. Wikipedia dixit.

I saw one of them, the DR 65 1049-9 in the Arnstadt BBW in 2014.

There are two types of BR 65 : one is a Neubau of the DB and the other one, the BR 65.10 belonged to the DR.
The BR 65 018 is the only preserved from the DB, whilst the BR 65 1049-9 is effectively in the Arnstadt BW.
They are 142, but that's their only similarity.

Most are passengers service and few freights service.

Type 65 in 'BR' box at top right of site and click OK.

I have read reports on the BR65 in use for local and commuter trains south of Frankfurt.
They were very sure-footed and could accelerate faster than the new diesels.
I guess these might have been the V100 or V90.

The DB 65 018 is part of the collection of the SSN in Rotterdam

Some pictures of the BR 65 018

The BR 65 was used for passenger trains, but as usual, also for other duties.

If it's the BR 65, Märklin has chosen three tenderlocomotives as an insider model in the last years.

We will see

Yet another crocodile !!!
I think it is not for me. I lack much other loco types to buy one more crocodile. I already have 4 in H0, Märklin, and 1 in N, Minitrix, and it is enough. Don't tell me that this one is different, it is too much similar to the ones I've.

Interesting model but not my era... I'm afraid I'll pass this time.

I hope you realise that this is a model of the 'Rangier-Krokodil' or Shunting Crocodile.

After the Crocodiles were withdrawn from general use, the SBB converted some of the Crocodiles to be used in the Basel shunting yards as shunting locomotives. Hence the reason why there is only one pantograph, and why there are platforms at both ends on this loco.

...yes, Basel plus Biel/Bienne, Buchs/SG, Lausanne, St-Triphon, Winterthur - marshalling yards with "humps" where the freight vans were distributed into their individual destination tracks. Thus the model can preferably be used for shunting long trains.

I wonder whether Marklin will incorporate all modifications that were applied to the prototypes - for instance the large "compressor thingy" or whatever it was under the center section of the engine:

Ooooh yummy, comes with a shunter to travel on the end plate as well.

I'm guessing the third picture on the Meisesmobacenter web site will be the December wallpaper picture ...

Don't like the 'artificial' sparks between the pantograph and overhead though.

The description of the wagon set sounds an interesting mix. (available 3rd Q, loco 2nd Q)

Google translation (looks like it did a not bad job) ...

"5 freight cars of different types. Of these, 3 cars of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and a pair of car transporters of the German Federal Railways (DB). 1 Ebis high-side wagon, 1 Gbs covered freight wagon, 1 Hbck covered freight wagon and 1 Laaes 541 car transport wagon pair. All wagons in operation at the end of the 1970s."

Hello Stefan
FYI, "The compressor thingy" was an improved extra ventilation system needed to perform shunting jobs where repeated full load start/stop events required for these duties.

David

Oh yeah David, you absolutely have to have some Kroks IMO - They are amazing machines and this should be an excellent one to represent the class in your collection.

I have three already and I will have to think about whether I can justify adding another one. If it is cool enough in detail and technoligy I might consider it, but my double set of Kroks are beautiful and nicely functioned, even though they were made in 2014.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

Yes, I've got a green one and a brown one. That's it for me although I do love them. I have 6 DB/Obb crocs too. A nice little farm. Peter. Cool

That is how I see it too, although it is a very nice croc with lots of cool features for someone who does not have one already. I would not buy it just because of the museum connection and the missing pantograph however.

The three that I have now will do me just fine and give my budget a chance to catch up after a very busy Märklin collecting year! Cool
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

I was an Insider member for some years, however I considered information received to be a little old, and I was never attracted to the Insider Models.

And now this Krok... Drool moving panto, telex, sound etc. I have a brown Mä 39561, without any of these features. Conclusion: The Mä 39567 is a must have! And ”next year” is always a new year from a financial point of view. BigGrin

I just purchased an Insider Order Form on eBay.de.

(1) Can I just leave the form to any Märklin shop?

(2) Are there different prices on Insider Models, in different shops?

Cool

I love the 39561 model as well. I just joined the Insider Club last week and I'm still waiting for my welcome package or other materials. I don't have any Kroks so far so this might be a good place to start.
